Yesterday, Sunday, on your way to the Heartland Model Car Nationales, I saw what I thought at first maybe a '70's Nova in my rearview mirror. Got on the main 4-lane road and it started getting closer and then past us. I'm driving so no pictures, but this was the cleanest '66 Malibu I've seen in a very long time. Clean white finish with a stock looking interior, Mag wheels, slightly down nose stance, and an unmistakable low rumble as it went by.

bright orange early '80s Vette. And a Trans Am from this year's "Bandit Run". Fans of Smokey and the Bandit came to town to visit the Cora, the elephant from one of the sequels. But it suffered an issue. After driving behind it for maybe ten miles we caught up to it on the side of the road after we passed through a cloud of blue smoke. Plate number was EST BND.

That big Army looking thing is a 'Sherp' isn't it?

A Miata based kit body.  I know someone who does other bodies for Miatas.

David:  Sherpa, designed for Arctic terrain, but I saw a video of one dominating a Mud Bog.

Bad pic but I caught a 4Runner in it's native habitat, the toll road. This one had the roof rack and the water cans, ready to brave the suburban wastelands!

Oh yeah those are nice. There are actually quite a few here in town, 6 that I know of and only one is a two-door. Plus back in the day my dad's aunt and uncle had one, and even a driver for it. And a same year Cadillac. 1979

I'm 77 take away 60 years and my girl friend at the time had two big brothers who both had one of the 3 cylinder two strokes and were into rallying! They were tuned by a guy  at Leighton Buzzard about 10 miles away and they went like stink.

In fact the M1 motorway (three lanes each side) was opened in the early 1960's when the Very New Jaguar E Types were first released so one of the dealers ran one on the M1, to test the speed, as he was reaching 110mph one of the SAAB fully tuned three cylinder Two Strokes over took him!

110+ in that old saab must have felt scary fast.

While I was out and about I spotted this very nice '68 Impala cruise by.

It never fails to amaze me how small older 'big' cars look in a sea of modern vehicles.
