wayne swayze Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Took my wife to her cardio appointment this morning. Her doctor was actually gleeful when he said she was doing wonderful, couldn't be doing any better! That's great Tom! Amazing what doctors can do these days.
Pim Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 finally got my learners driving license today time to hit the road!!!
High octane Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Good luck behind the wheel, you're gonna need it.
Olskoolrodder Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Aside from waking up alive,in my own bed, beside my wife and with both kids here and healthy....I got paid (it's still a major battle to do so,and the govenrment is still on the attack of the 900/1500 I'd mentioned in an earlier post in the Irked Me thread...but this is a big to us/small in th egrand scheme victory and I'll take it )
Roadrunner Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 finally got my learners driving license today time to hit the road!!! One foot on the gas, one hand on the horn, that's all you really need to know.
Joe Handley Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 One foot on the gas, one hand on the horn, that's all you really need to know. Sadly, that is probably one of the most accurate things you can teach somebody on the topic of driving.............
Olskoolrodder Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Finally had enough saved to buy the new washing machine,LOL! (we'd bought a refurbished unit back in February with a short waranty,it had broken just a few days after that expired,we repaired it a couple times and it died completely....been having to go to my parent's house to wash laundry for a family of 4 every since,LOL,so we'd been setting back a littl ehere and there). Also, while out paying the last of this round's bills, got to see one of my most loved friends who I hadn't seen in over a year (bumped in to them when I stopped to grab a burger, they were apparently craving burger/fries too,LOL). Got home in time to get a good 1.5 hour nap in before the wife got home...was a decent day overall
Old Buckaroo Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Stephen - that is just awesome. Congratulations on saving up for your purchase instead of playing the "credit game"
Olskoolrodder Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Thank,Sean LOL,we cut our CC's up years ago. That means we sometimes have to wait a while (or change what we want in the case of major buys sometimes),but we've leved better off since,LOL! The one really big problem with a new washing machine is.....now I have ot do all that backed up laundry
Roadrunner Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 We're grilling a huge pile of stuff here for our 4th weekend celebration, and that please me very, very much. (It's little wonder that I've packed on 10 pounds of blubber since I moved in here.)
Lucas van H Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Roofrails came in today! Didn't think they were going to show up anymore... Unfortunately one is a bit broken (Button to in- or decrease the width has been snapped off by the previous owner) but heck, what can you expect for 12,50?
slusher Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 My son and 3 grand daughters are visiting for the week. I have had my 5 and 4 year old on my lap watching cartoons most of the day. My 18 month old toddler dos not stop until nap time. Great day
High octane Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Young grandchildren have a way of pleasing their grandparents that is hard to describe, but they do.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Replaced the seal in my air rifle with an oil cooler seal from a VW. Seems to have a little more oomph than the cracked and yellowed one that was in it before. Found out that the scope is nearly sighted, as well: about an inch low at 12 yards. Still, should be good for pegging small vermin.
Joe Handley Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Quick tip, see if you can get the Associated Green Slime lube for building R/C shocks, supposedmy it is fantastic stuff on such things for airsoft guns too. Here's a link to Tower for it. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSF70&P=ML Edited July 6, 2015 by Joe Handley
Joe Handley Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Not sure, but I work with an airsoft guy that swears by the stuff for his gas and CO2 guns as well as ones he fixes four our customers.
Mike_G Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I have a vintage "Benjamin Franklin" .22 air pistol that won't pump up anymore. I gotta get it fixed one of these days, it's really cool
High octane Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I just got word this afternoon that Portillo's will be building a new restaurant 'bout 7 miles from my house and plans to open this November. That's kinda pushin' it, but it can be done. Plan is to hire 200 workers, and sorry to say that they won't hire me, as I would eat up all their profits. Oh well. I should watch my youthful (?) figure.

Joe Handley Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Congrats on the upcoming nearby Portillos! Apparently they actually pay decent and have 401k and insurance! Edited July 7, 2015 by Joe Handley
High octane Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Thanks Ken as I already know that Dick Portillo had sold the business, and it's still goin' strong. And I've already been to Boston and had some chowdah as well. It was even better in Maine.
slusher Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Spent 4 days with my son and my 3 of my 4 grand daughters. Toke my son, daughter in law and the girls out to eat at Cracker Barrell. They all went home and i am lost today that their gone..
Tom Geiger Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 This little guy made my day! Every year we have a pair of Robins that make their nest on our house. The past few years the nests have been in spots where we could watch the babies. Last year it was right on an upstairs window sill. This year the poor Robins built three nests. One was on top of my spot lights, so I knocked it down because they would've gotten fried overnight. The second one was on a bend in a downspout and I found it on the ground. So I had no idea where they were nesting, although I saw the birds daily. The other day we found out, the nest this year is on a tree branch overlooking my deck. And today the last fledgeling left the nest! He fluttered down onto the edge of a flower box on the deck and sat there for at least an hour. The parent kept coming back and feeding him worms, until finally he took the leap into a bush and then to the ground. The last I saw the parent and child were running across the yard to the safety of the underbrush in the woods. Fledgelings leave the nest before they can fly and they hide in the brush until they figure it out.
