Our local elementary school, West Yadkin Elementary, hosted a Veterans Appreciation Breakfast. Following the breakfast, we toured the school, and the kids gave us items they had made thanking the veterans. What made this so special is that I was in the last graduating class of West Yadkin High School, before the county schools consolidated into two high schools. Most of the older buildings have been replaced with more modern classrooms, but there are still some of the older buildings in use. A lot of good memories.

The indications today so far are that the irrationally-behaving house renter neighbor across the street that I've mentioned once or twice over in our "Irk" section … is moving out!

To get away from Irks hanging around the house, I went on a rock hound mission. 😁  This stretch had so many rocks I am always looking for, sometimes I could stand in one spot and pick up a handful.  I wasted time on another road, pleased I took this one again but the other direction.

The wash (what we in Arizona call a dry river bed) was perfect for driving on, to a point, and pleased I did not get stuck.  This spot has big nice purple and green rocks.

Pleased that Blue Cloud didn't run out of gas, and that I can still see, scramble and bend okay. 😅

Last night at the Prescott Antique Auto Club meeting, pleased to see that my Fakerri got it's picture in the newspaper.

Had an easy trip to the DMV today! I showed up just before 8 this morning, and was out in like five minutes....... Since it's just a state ID, there was no charge either. I'm that much closer to being able to apply for another apartment!   B)

That's a record for the DMV, and good luck on the apartment.  With better neighbors of course.

Changed an "Irk" to this thread, even though it cost a small fortune.

There was a leak under the slab.  Lucky that I had custom (with plywood not high end) base cabinets built higher than normal, so the new pipe goes under the range on a platform.  Roots had grown under the footing to the waste pipe.

Had a visit with my Nephrologist (kidney) doctor this morning. About 2 years ago I had to have a kidney removed. This morning he told me I was in great shape for an 80 year old. Made me feel pretty good.

The passenger heaters and front defroster went out on my school bus mid run but the trusty mechanics went to work on them as soon as I pulled the bus into our shop after my runs. I called ahead and sure enough, a bay in the shop was open. Within four hours, the bus had good heat even on the lowest setting.

What started out as my pessimistic irk, turned out out for the better but wasn't cheap. The wife's 2008 Equinox with only 85,000 miles was producing a faint slapping noise that could be felt by our feet. It ended up being the frame mount on the drivers side where the engine cradle attaches. It was rotted and barely holding together causing the slapping noise. I took it to a restoration/frame shop and had it repaired properly with much thicker and stronger american steel opposed to the junk metal being used by GM. The rest of the frame is in great condition.

So a warning to any one out there with a 2007 to 2014 Equinox as I was told, inspect that area on your vehicle especially if you can feel or hear any noises under your feet. I would imagine that it's not just the Equinox model effected by this.

Pretty common failure today. I had to replace the subframe on my late father-in-law's Honda Accord for the same reason. On them, the air conditioning drain leaks onto the mount and makes it rot prematurely. It was too nice of a vehicle to let go to the scrapyard.

Went to the Goodguys Southwest Nationals day 1 today (Saturday tomorrow) and got to school some guys on there model A sedans. I think being so young (16 this weekend) I surprised them that I knew all the little differences between a 28-29 and 30-31 sedan.
