Today was a good day overall...

There was the annual whole neighborhood garage sale this morning and we chose not to sell things this year.  That left me free to roam around the neighborhood talking with people and looking at the goods for sale.   I managed to buy a 24' ladder that I needed  and a 1/3 sheet sander (they stopped making those!) for $5.

I can go to entire weekends of garage sales and find nothing so it was cool to find the two things I was actually looking for!

Later in the day friends of ours came from NJ and we went to one of our favorite local restaurants, and sat outside. Weather was perfect for that!  And a deuce coupe pulled up right near out table.  Perfect!

Helped, maybe saved, a big 'ol turtle today. Like this. Image result for yellow bellied slider turtle

Weekends I often go for long morning walks in a nearby office / industrial complex that has lots of trees, birds, and several ponds. There are a couple of year-round families of Canada geese, and it's good to see the little ones grow up during the summer.

Today as I was heading home, passing one of the ponds, I noticed what looked like a big turtle sitting in the gutter next to the curb. It wasn't moving and the sun was really beating down at around noon. It hadn't been there on my way out, and I assume it was trying to cross from the woods on the eastern side of the street to the pond on the west, got overheated on the black tarmac, and didn't have the strength to make it over the 7" curb.

Judging from the size, shell shape and markings, i guess it was a female yellow-bellied slider or an Eastern river cooter. Pretty big turtle, about a foot long, and without the typical snapping-turtle snout.

Anyway, I picked it up and took it to a shady muddy spot on the water's edge. It sat there for a minute or three and I was a little concerned I may have been too late, but it suddenly put its legs out and dashed into the water...as much as a turtle can dash, anyway. :D

More officers were killed in the line of duty in auto accidents than gunfights. That trend continued nationally for about ten years, ending only recently.

Since that photo was taken, St Louis has lost three to auto accidents and one to gunfire.

It's still considered the most violent city in America though.

Very cool.  I've always liked turtles and would have done the same.

sorry to hear about this.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Unfortunately, that is the dangerous part of the business.

There isn't a day goes by I don't thank the man above for keeping me alive throughout my career. .

It really made me wonder when I drove back home from gym in my second-hand golf, when the radio suddenly played a song, named Sensitive Kind by JJ Cale.

I don't really know this artist, I just accidently knew him. First I kind of like Eric Clapton, and then I know one of Eric's album, Eric clapton & friends, the breeze, and this album, with it's covers,  were amazingly drew by the one and probably the only one painter I love... the painter is a Japanese, Yoshiyuku Sadamoto... then I bought this album, and I knew the song, Sensitive Kind.

It just really really made me wonder that I can hear this song, from my local radio(Because We Chinese people isn't that much know JJ Cale well, and also music radio always play something pop..less this nice old fashion), and the whole thing, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, the Japanese painter, people I love linked each other..I never thought of this...

this is a really amazing feeling...here's the album...

Wrapping up some wiring I'd wanted to get back to for the last couple of months, and that makes me feel just excellent.

That flex line garbage legal?  I would have piped the line.

Yep, perfectly legal to use FMC. EMT would have been better, but I didn't have any.

See above.
