Jantrix Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I'm not sure if I've ever posted this before. It's the AMT '40 Panel build circa 1990, and was my first foray into scratchbuilding/customizing and detailing a model. Paint is Pactra Lightning Purple. Please forgive any mechanical/electrical mistakes. I did a 3" channel on the hood, and then trimmed the same amount from the bottom of the panel body, the result is a poor fit around the rear fenders. The rear door is gullwinged and hinged. The chassis has a lot of scratchbuilding and it's a bit out of scale. I learned a lot from this build. The wheels/tires are Fugimi's. As always, any comments or criticisms are welcome.
TFchronos Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Beautiful panel, one fine color on it too. Edited August 17, 2014 by TFchronos
Maxicoop Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 great lookin' build ...... just keep learning is what I always say .... a day I don't learn something is a day in waste !!!! awesome color, wheels and just all around look ....
wayne swayze Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Nearly a 1/4 century old, and it still looks great! Thanks for sharing.
Chuck Most Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 It's held up pretty well- not only in terms of the model itself, but the style in which it's built. Very nice!
Jantrix Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks guys. I appreciate the ataboys. It was built in the day of monochromatic billet rods, but I gotta have some contrast. Ill post up some more oldies later on.
DynoMight Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Model still looks good. As for the fender fit, oh well, what can you do? Love the wheels. Can we have a couple pics of the door and interior?
Jantrix Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 The rear door opens upward but the interior is pretty unremarkable. It's at my Dads place it'll be a few weeks before I see it again.
Chris White Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 awesome Rob, love the proportions, looks cool
Sixties Sam Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Looks good! Great color, and I like the sectioning/trimming work. Fender fit doesn't look too bad to me. Good work! Sam
