crazyjim Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Finished my Phaeton today. Paint is HOK deep lilac pearl. I built one of these a couple years ago as a highboy version and decided this time to go with full fenders.
oldnslow Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Nice build Jim, but you're supposed to let it dry before you stick your thumb on it. (right front fender) Love the color. Did you do something with the front axle? It looks too far back.
wrecker388 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Looks good... I think a tire swap may make it look great. Those tires look better on a small 4WD truck in my opinion.
10thumbs Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Hi Jim, sharp looking hot rod. I'm getting acquainted with H of K paints, which base coat color did you choose? Also, did you clear it with H of K too? Michael
crazyjim Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Thank you guys. I didn't notice front fender. Maybe a little wet sanding will correct it. After the frame was painted, I did some cutting to get the front end lower and set the front axle too far back. Michael - I use Duplicolor primer only. This particular model has the grey sandable primer as a basecoat. I use Nason SelectClear.
Maxicoop Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 awesome Jim, an old school street rod !!!!! Great colors, bright and a little different !!!!
JunkPile Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 :) Hi Jim. Nice lookin' model. As far as the smudged fender you could dab just a bit of rust to that area. Hell, ya might like it and begin to smear some rust in other areas too.
1930fordpickup Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Jim I would just call those beach tires .
PARTSMARTY Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I LOVE IT EXCEPT THE COLOR OF THE STEP PADS ON THE RUNNING BOARDS.WHAT IS THIS THING ABOUT RUST-NEVER EVER-LOL.!!!
crazyjim Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Thanks marty. The running boards are the same color as the interior.
Harry P. Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I know you made the top red to go with the red interior accents, but IMO the red top and the purple body don't work together. I would have gone with the top being the same lighter purple as the interior and running boards, or a light tan. Just my opinion, of course.
crazyjim Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 And everybody has then Harry. In this case, I think you're right about the light purple top. I like it!
