Crazy Ed Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Ridin' down the Highway, Yes my back is gettin' stiff Thirteen Cars piled up, they're hangin' on a Cliff Looks like this ones going unanswered - Outside of a Small Circle of Friends, by Phil Ochs
Crazy Ed Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Like the Nights when the Northern Lights perform There'll be Icicles and Birthday clothes, and sometimes there'll be sorrow Another unanswered tune - Little Green, by Joni Mitchell
jbwelda Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 haven't heard that small circle of friends song in many many...decades. jb
StevenGuthmiller Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, he makes me down to lie, through pastures green he leadeth me, the silent waters by, with bright knives he releaseth my soul, he maketh me to hang on hooks in high places, he converteth me to lamb cutlets." Steve The answer on this one is "Sheep" from the Pink Floyd "Animals" album. My favorite Floyd album. Steve
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 ...from the Pink Floyd "Animals" album. My favorite Floyd album. Steve Really? Not "Dark Side of the Moon?" (the best Floyd album by far, IMO, with "Wish You Were Here" second and "The Wall" third).
jbwelda Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 they (Floyd) never surpassed Pipers At the Gates of Dawn. but of course that was an entirely different thing than they were doing later, in stadiums with big inflatable animals and lots of effects loops. jb
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Never mind the stage show and the theatrics and the lasers and the inflatable pigs, etc... I'm talking about sitting back with your eyes closed and just listening to the "Dark Side of the Moon" CD on a quality stereo system.. like mine...
StevenGuthmiller Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I love everything Floyd. Dark side of the moon was one of the greatest albums of all time, I believe still holding the record for longest period on the top 200 album charts @ somewhere around 750 weeks! Last I had heard,( a couple years back) it had sold over 40 million copies around the world & still sells 8,000 or so copies a week! Not bad for an album that's over 40 years old! Evidently, everybody loves Dark Side of the Moon! There's just something about "Animals" that I've always loved. Steve
Crazy Ed Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 haven't heard that small circle of friends song in many many...decades. jb How's 'bout his (now days all but forgotten) Draft Dodger Rag!? That one pretty much vanished after '75.

W-409 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) Okay here's one more. Looks like you guys don't listen much Rockabilly music since no one has known the ones I've posted. Now let's try it a bit different... Here are complete lyrics for this song, except that the name of the song is removed. So fill in the blank spots and you'll figure out the name of this song... Wherever I come bad luck is coming my way Wherever I go hard luck is there to stay If I say yes people laugh and say I'm mad If I say no they get furious and I get said Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF: ------------- They call me the ----------------- But I'm trying as hard as I can To keep bad luck away from me But I'm doomed to live a life filled with misery I took a trip to England on a ferryboat After a while it sank after being afloat Few years ago I went to holydays on Tenerife Leaving there people full of grief Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF I'm even worse than a tornado, whirlwind, hurricane Even my looks make ordinary people go insane When they put me away in a bunker of ferro-concrete My misery radiation made it crash completely Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF I took a trip to England on a ferryboat After a while it sank after being afloat Few years ago I went to holydays on Tenerife Leaving there people full of grief Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF Edited April 1, 2015 by W-409
ChrisBcritter Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Let's try this: Name all three songs and the biggest connection between them. "I take her to the drags, man and everyone flips For her big blue eyes and her candy apple lips..." "There's a ninety-pound weakling, well he ain't got no place Cause you know he'll only get the sand kicked in his face..." "I never had a steady girl now for more than a day I'd get a good thing going then I'd throw it away..." Hints: Same writer, three different artists (sort of). One was part of a soundtrack, one was an album cut, and the other was a one-off 45. None was a big hit despite the talent involved.
mikemodeler Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 "with a hundred dollar bills in his fingers tight, he had flowers for wheels and a flashing headlights"

Mike_G Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 "Father will do the best he can, so many things a father can't understand" Motherless Children by Eric Clapton from his last decent album.
mikemodeler Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Motherless Children by Eric Clapton from his last decent album. you are correct! agreed on the album comment too.
Mike_G Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Really? Not "Dark Side of the Moon?" (the best Floyd album by far, IMO, with "Wish You Were Here" second and "The Wall" third). I like Ummagumma, DSOTM, and Wish You Were Here. Not a fan of any of their later works.
Crazy Ed Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 A fun one: I'm afraid somedat they'll find me, just strstched out on my bed. With a handfull of Pringles potato chips and a Ding Dong by my head

Snake45 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Really? Not "Dark Side of the Moon?" (the best Floyd album by far, IMO). I'm not a huge Floyd fan, but I do own Dark Side on vinyl, primarily because the incredibly yummy Nancy L. told me that "Us and Them" got her hot. She was right. It was $4.59 (IIRC) very well spent. (Personally, I always thought Savoy Brown's Looking In and Traffic's John Barlycorn were the best make-out albums of all time. Nancy got to like those, too.) Edited April 4, 2015 by Snake45
Harry P. Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hmmm... I never saw "Us and Them" as a makeout song. Must be the sax solo..
JollySipper Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 I always feel moved by the song "The Great Gig In The Sky"........ She really puts her heart into the vocals! "There is trouble in the forest, and the creatures all have fled, As the Maples scream 'Oppression!', and the Oaks just shake their heads"
slantasaurus Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Everybody keeps posting old songs, how about 2 from a couple of the best albums (CDs) released in the last few months ??
