Harry P. Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Hopefully they are beyond Lucas wiring! I thought Lucas supplied electric components, like lights, relays, batteries, switches... not wiring. Maybe I'm wrong.
zenrat Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 ...the 2+2 is incredibly beautiful No it's not. The roof is too tall in comparison with the height of the body from sills to top of doors. They got it right with the soft tops but not the 2+2s.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 No it's not. The roof is too tall in comparison with the height of the body from sills to top of doors. They got it right with the soft tops but not the 2+2s. Exactly. The Jag coupe had nice proportions. Spoiled on the 2+2.
Joe Handley Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I thought Lucas supplied electric components, like lights, relays, batteries, switches... not wiring. Maybe I'm wrong. I think the mainly provided darkness and wiring loom smoke!
Crazy Ed Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 WOW......now those are some ... Cars. But they do beg the question, Do They Still Leak Oil???
unclescott58 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Ah, Lucas. The prince of darkness. Do you know why the British drink warm beer? Their refrigerators are all made by Lucas. Scott
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 WOW......now those are some ... Cars. But they do beg the question, Do They Still Leak Oil??? Don't think of it as leaking oil. Think of it as marking their territory. Ah, Lucas. The prince of darkness. Do you know why the British drink warm beer? Their refrigerators are all made by Lucas. Crossword clue: A five-letter word for "electrical problem". L U C A S
DeeCee Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 That second one is spot on i think, and with the LS1 swap, at least they stopped the oil leaks.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) That second one is spot on i think, and with the LS1 swap, at least they stopped the oil leaks. I like this one better... ...or this... Edited September 8, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
DonW Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 WOW......now those are some ... Cars. But they do beg the question, Do They Still Leak Oil??? This is no joke - we used to hate racing after the Jags had been out, everything covered in a sheen of Mobil1...
DonW Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) This tubbed 420G has a twin turbo big block Chevy putting out 900bhp. I love the racing XJ12 in your last post, Bill, just a shame Jaguar would never cooperate with Ralph Broad to make the racing XJC concept work properly. They used to blow the opposition into the weeds then retire with the brakes on fire or some other mechanical issue. The street car is the one that Steed drove in the Avengers TV series, it replaced his red 3 litre vdp Bentley. It was completely standard apart from the arches and the wheels. 62rebel Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 good thing there's not many Jag kits out there and the ones that are, are incredibly difficult.... or else there'd be a thread devoted to defiling the perfect form in styrene.
DonW Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Ah, Lucas. The prince of darkness. Do you know why the British drink warm beer? Their refrigerators are all made by Lucas. Scott Not warm. Cellar temperature. You shouldn't have to chill beer to make it drinkable!
Joe Handley Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Not warm. Cellar temperature. You shouldn't have to chill beer to make it drinkable! Best thing that kept me from drinking when I turned 21 was spending the previous 4 years was mopping booze up off the floor at the Osco I used to work at when customers would drop their purchases on the floor. Warm or cold, most beer and wine smelled awful enough that it helped kill what little interest I in the stuff.
JTalmage Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Can't forget this now-internet-famous Jaguar!

Jaguar man 21 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I don't care what anyone says about the 2+2 or the series 3 minus the us crash bumpers of course all e types were beautiful
Tom Geiger Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Here's my Jag... never saw a need to change a thing! and the Lucas jokes... The Lucas headlight switch has three positions. Off, Dim and Flicker!
Jaguar man 21 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Very nice s type such a good looking car I'd love to have one
Tom Geiger Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Very nice s type such a good looking car I'd love to have one Ah, I responded to your PM prior to seeing this post. Yes, I always loved the style of the S Type from the day they were first made. Four years ago I had the opportunity to pick up this one owner car with 23,000 miles on it. I bought it at a Bentley / Rolls dealer where it had been traded in, along with a Bentley, on a new Bentley. Story was that it was a spare car on an estate, not used much so they traded it. I found an old registration stuck in one of the manuals and did the Google map thing on the address and it was quite a place!
Russell C Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Never forget Willy Koenig's widebody XJS. Addict to such an appearance, I like 'em.
DonW Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Best ever E-Type - the Lindner Nocker lightweight low drag coupe:
