Color is subjective. If you like it, it's good. Doesn't matter what anyone else says.

It's like saying hey guys... I decided I like vanilla ice cream. What do you think?

There's no answer to that.

I like the color and the application looks to be well done. But to me, the flake is kinda huge, more the bass-boat /dune-buggy size. I'd prefer it on some wild-and-crazy kustom-kar, something smaller and Roth-style.

But it's also appropriate for a chopped Merc, if that's what you like. :)

Thinking "scale" wise, each one of those flakes look to be about the size of your thumb! :) But, a lot of people love that old school metal flake look! the color itself is very nice. I'm just personally not a fan of that heavy "metal flake" look.

I love the color, specially on that car! Get some cream for the side and do a 2 tone with a pearl cream or medium gray with similar metallic. something like this:

I tried some nail polish on an AMT 57 Fairlane yesterday. I used Sinful Colors from Walgreens/Walmart. It sprays well, but Lacquer thinner has way to much flash and the paint dries before it hits the body and it has a slight spider webbing effect. According to the bottle, Sinful colors is enamel. I have used lacquer thinner with great success in the past with enamels, but this stuff is weird. It thins down really well, but then it dries way too fast.

What brand of paint did you use and what thinner?

When I get the chance, I'll upload some pics of my fairlane.

I tried contacting the manufacturer to see what they suggest to thin it with. They responded with one simple sentance: "We don't recommend thinning it." I would have thought they would have given some kind of reason or suggestion, but NO. lol I think I'll write them a nasty email and see what kind of response I get.

I'd try enamel thinner for the enamel paint, it might work better than the lacquer thinner, I think you'll find it a bit more compatible

I agree with Bill, the flake size does seem to lend itself more to a boat / dune buggy type finish..... but it's all a matter of personal taste, if it looks right to you & your happy with it; then by all means go for it
