Hobby Lobby started selling the 18mm and now I don't have to order it anymore...
martinfan5 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I buy it from Burbank House Of Hobbies, they sell a three pack, that has one of each size, with shipping comes to about $10 or less
unclescott58 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Everything I've ever gotten from Tamiya is amazing. I've never been displeased with any of their products. I just wish they made models of American cars. Scott
1/24DragAndStreetCars Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Mines the 6mm and it was something like $5.36?
MrObsessive Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I swear by Tamiya Tape! I was able to do the stripes on this '05 Mustang without any bleed-through whatsoever!
1/24DragAndStreetCars Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Wow! Those stripes are amazing! I used it to do reverse roadrunner hood stripes on my chager
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) I've been using the stuff for a while now & I love it too! First time I saw it was @ Hobby Lobby, so I thought I'd give it a try. Now I order several re-fills of the 6mm at a time from Burbank House of Hobbies for $2.60 each. My Testors brushes hold up well when cleaned right but I really like everything I have used by Tamiya I may need to try them...
jbwelda Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 my local hobby shop had some 10 years ago or so. they hadn't sold for what they wanted for them so one day he just gave them to me when I made a pretty major purchase. they look and feel similar to the model master brushes but really really do hold a point well, and the bigger one of the two would sop up paint and lay it down smooth. I couldn't believe it, it was so good. both have lasted up to today with almost daily use. kind of amazing. by way of comparison, my typical model master brush lasts about a year or so until its frayed and shedding. I do not know if the Tamiya brushes are still available; that was the only time I have ever really noticed them. jb

PARTSMARTY Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I USE SEVERAL DIFFERENT SIZES OF TAMIYA TAPE-LOVE IT !!!
robertw Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Check out Frog tape. I pick mine up at Wally-World. It's about the same color as the Tamiya stuff and comes in a plastic case and the roll is big. It seems to work very similar to the Tamiya stuff. You can find it in the Paint department. The only drawback is that it is a wider paint but then it is made for household paint masking. rob
Tom Geiger Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 As said there is nothing like Tamiya tape! Yea pricy but you get what you pay for. I use the Tamiya tape for the critical edge. Then I butt up cheaper blue tape to it and cover the rest of the model with that! Only use the expensive stuff for that one critical edge!
