I picked these up yesturday at the LIARS show. Both are original unpainted and unmolested condition. The Edsel will be done in turquoise with white, but I need some suggestions for the Chrysler. I got both of these for under a hundred bucks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you going to do a show room stock or update one or both ? The Edsel could be updated using the AMT '58 Edsel. The Chrysler needs a strong color but still look like the luxo car that it was. Chrysler had some very nice colors at that time. With what it sounds like you had to pay for these you may want to just use what you have and detail all the trim and interior.

I already ordered the fender ornamates from The Modelhaus and have a set of wheel covers from AAMT 58 Edsel kit. I know I will be doing a vinyl top on the Chrysler and thinking maybe a teal or maybe a gold with black top.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I had a 1:1 1967 Chrysler 300 in high school Al!! I have 2 of the kits waiting to be built some day. Mine was "Scorch Red" with a black vinyl top. One of my favorite colors from '67 was "Turbine Bronze". I'll be doing a '67 Plymouth in that color eventually. Here's a horrible old photo of my high school baby & some '67 color chips. Very nice score by the way. The Chrysler alone could be worth $100.00! Steve

Al, no matter what your decision as to the direction you are going with the build, I am quite sure that the result will be quite nice.

That '67 brings back memories for me. One of my neighbors had a '67 Chrysler Newport in the Dark Teal color, while one of my paper route customers had a '67 Dodge Polara Convertible in the same color, but with a white top and interior. When I restored this one, the color was a no-brainer.

I have another one, that is a little more worse for wear, as the previous owner glued the glass into the roof, resulting in divots in the roof. I may either do the vinyl roof, or make a convertible out of the next one.

Nice looking 300 Ron. I love the all 300s. Both letter cars and non-letter cars. And '67 is one those years that ranks high with me. It's a great looking car. Especially the 2-door hardtop.

Steve, thanks for the color chart, that's going to help. Scott, put you winter coat on and wait by your mailbox for the Chrysler. It's going to get real cold before you get it. Steve, the glued hood was a minor problem on the Chrysler. I've never seen so much glue used on a model, i'm still trying to get it apart, The Edsel was never glued and came apart in one minute.

Red with a black top is really sharp but as rare as that little car is, I'd suggest something more - conservative. Crystal Blue poly with a white roof would look elegant and classy - add a white interior. Obviously, the purchase was a good one. Congratulations on getting these at a decent price and sincerely, I am very happy for you. They have a good home and are in good, capable hands. personally, as decent as that Edsel looks, I'd have a difficult time hiding the original styrene - but that's just me. The turquoise and white will look really good on it. Mechanics Illustrated magazine had a turquoise and white convertible on the cover when those were brand new and I always liked that combination.

Another good color in my opinion is the metallic "Mint Green". Maybe not the most attractive color, but it was very popular in the late 60s-early 70s. When the day comes to build my '68 300, it will be that color. Steve

Very nice. I too recently picked up a 59 Edsel conv and was thinking the same color combo but not sure yet. Mine has the continental kit but I don't know if I will use it. I have the chrome out getting redone now and will start it soon.

Great scores BTW!

Don't mean to "Hijack" but this is the '59 Edsel I just recently re-built. Mine was the "Jr. Craftsman" kit. You've probably already seen this but I thought it might help get you revved up! Always helps me to see where I'm trying to wind up. :) Steve

For some reason I do not like two tone schemes on 67-68 Chryslers. As a factory stock fan, I also think era specific, or representative, colors are the best choice. This rules out basic colors like white, black and red, as well as modern colors (well, we have mostly gray tones and black nowadays). Out of those in this category I would vote for gold.

Al here are my C-Body MOPAR's to show some more colors. The 300 is Model Master Black, Poloia MCW -Electric Blue and the Fury is Model master Bronze with a white vinyl.

Another little fun fact for you. My 1:1 '67 Chrysler 300 had the same hubcaps as the '68. This was not something that someone did "after market". Chrysler had a tendency to run a little late, (or early, depending ow you look at it) with their wheel covers. In early '67, they used the '66 hubcaps. Later that year they introduced the '68 style caps & used them on the '67s. So when I build my '67 with 1968 hubcaps, it will be factory correct! :) Steve
