ferrarijoe Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Just finished up this build. Typical Tamiya build no real issues. Since its and older kit the tubing is hard and dose not like to bend. and the decals are brittle. the black band around the cockpit ripped in about 10 places while applying. And they don't stick very well, a coat of future solved that.
Nacho Z Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 She looks good Joe. I see a lot of nice work in there. Those large decals can be a bear to work with.
DynoMight Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Really like that shade of yellow! Great job.
Silver Foxx Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Great looking build , built this myself some time ago , Tamiya kits are great to build and you have done real nice work on this .
Southern Fried Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I am not into building this style. However, I do like to look at builds and this is a nice one!
Miatatom Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Great job! Another one that I have in my stash.
bbowser Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Great work! I'm loving all the F1 cars I've seen on here lately. Is that 1/20 or 1/12 scale? The belts in the cockpit are awesome.
Dave Van Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 NICE work.....love vintage F1.........hard to believe this is vintage!!!
Bill Eh? Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Superb large scale build. Love it, clean, excellent paint and detailing! Great era of F-1!
Pizzwizz24 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Joe....after a second look, I'm really impressed. I started this kit a few years ago and never finished it. I too had issues with the decals. They were "yellowed" and brittle with just about zero adhesion left. Expected from an old kit I guess. At the time I had order a new decal sheet from IndyCals. Cost me about $20 for a new sheet. Unfortunately I never put it back on the bench but your build has definitely got it back on the top of my list. Great job and keep 'me comin!
ferrarijoe Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 My kit came with a set of extra white decals that were not yellowed. The black band came of sheet ok. But when I went to slide in to final spot it just fell apart. So I tried to put it togther the best I could. And hit any cracks with black paint.
