Mooneyzs Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Randy... Every Time I check on this build it gets better. That front suspension is just Killer work. I know you have to have a ton of patience soldering everything. I know I am going to challenge myself on my next build to make the chassis out of brass. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to your next update.
majel Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Randy your brass work and engineering skills are amazing, just an incredible build!!

Unatural Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 This is looking better all the time. What are you going to do for the overall look? Will it be painted, leave it all brass, or something else?
Randy D Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Hi Folks, Thank you Rick, will make up the uprights using brass pirces. Hi Chris, Glad you like it, can't wait to see what you do with brass on your next build ! Thank you Jim !! Hello Richard, I feel the same looking at your diorama Thanks JC, looking forward to that myself Thanks Wayne, this one gets paint !!! small update... Randy D Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 I know it doesn't look like much progress but getting the upper and lower A-arms done and the shock mounts finished is a big step for me The up rights look crude now but will evolve as we go along Thanks for looking in ! Randy
mustang1989 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I know it doesn't look like much progress but getting the upper and lower A-arms done and the shock mounts finished is a big step for me The up rights look crude now but will evolve as we go along Thanks for looking in ! Randy It may not look like it's progressing the way you want but I think that the outcome of what you want is right on Randy. It sure looks like a quality outcome to me so far. I can tell you that!
Mooneyzs Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Randy... awesome updates. Ibam drooling over this awesoem work. I know exarly wjere tou are coming from when you say it doesn't look like much progress but it's a big hurdle and milestone in your own eyes. Keep up the fantastic work.
Davewilly Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Randy....looks fantastic! I like following your works...amazing stuff!
Codi Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Randy, this post kinda snuck by me. Looks great as always. Don't let up on her. Cheers, Tim
Art Laski Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Wow, Randy. I can really appreciate the level of effort you have in those A-arms and uprights. Fantastic work! -Art
Randy D Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Hi Folks, Thanks JC , One website in particular has been helpful www.gelscoemotorsports.com Click on the 'builds ' tab and they have some build blogs that have alot of useful pics. Hi Joe, thank you ( your 'rebuild' progress looks like it is rollin' along !) Chris, Thank you for the nice comments, I'm really looking forward to meeting you at this year's DSC and getting to see your project in person. Need to get the lowdown on your upcoming projects also Hi Dave, Thanks and it has been interesting to have the two builds going on, lots of tarnish to deal with Just noticed you are from Az., hope to meet you also ! Hi Tim, Thanks my friend Art, Really appreciate it , kinda gets hard to see the end sometimes Pretty small update but still progress !!! Building the anti-roll bar and attaching it ..... I will have to shorten up my rod end connection as this thing raced with about 4" of ground clearance!! Thanks for looking in!! Randy
Codi Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Randy, the real sign of genius is making something difficult look simple upon it's execution. Great job. Tim
Mark IV Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 There is not much ground clearance from the bottom of the anti-roll bar link to the ground.....when the tub is set to 4.5" the clearance to the lower link is less than 3"!!!! I live in constant fear of speed bumps!
Fortheloveofgassers Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This is so amazing. All I can say is as a modeler " I am not worthy"
Randy D Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Hi Folks, Hi Rick, what gt40 do you own ? Thanks Ed Okay Tim, I can take a hint, My only excuse for being slow is I have two projects to solder on Update, Finishing of the fuel filler with a flange and a cap for the driver's side and some primer on the body. I did seperate the front clip.... Thanks for looking in folks!!! Randy
Twokidsnosleep Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 OOhh look at it take shape with a few body panels, love the fuel filler cap detail DO you paint the brass framework or is that a stupid question
randx0 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 So are you opening the doors or is that just too much ? I'm a huge fan of this project.
Art Laski Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 It just looks spectaculr, Randy! It's easy to forget that it's only 1/24th scale.
Randy D Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Hi Folks, Thanks Scott, this one gets paint (I have enough tarnish issues with my metal build in the pickup section ) Hi Randy, glad you like it and yes the doors will work ! Hello Richard, thank you my friend ! Hi Art, Appreciate the kind words ! Update.... The front frame work pretty much just dangles off the front of the 'tub' more.......
Randy D Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Building up the rock screen that protects the radiator.... Thanks for looking in ! Randy
