This showed up for my XJ today, still waiting on the electric Aux Fan to replace the siezed up OE part.

Crazy thing is, this was $98 before tax and shipping off Amazon, the Aux Fan should end up being $55 w/tax and shipping.

Just closed a deal on one of these, cheap, identical except mine lacks the awful drilled-and-riveted side molding that was done by so many dealers. The car I just landed was previously owned by a Panoz exec, who had it stripped, resprayed in urethane, and the interior redone in OEM leather. Right around $20,000 worth of work. Shortly afterwards, he sold the car to a friend of mine who parked it in his garage, covered, after it developed engine problems (200k miles, so no real surprise there) and a climate-control-computer issue. That was maybe 15 years ago, but the car presents as almost brand new visually. The dash is out, and there's wiring everywhere, but hey...that's one of my specialties.

I have another, rougher blue '86 with a great low-miles engine, and I've already done the GM 700R4 gearbox swap in it. That car also has a functioning climate control system. The engine, gearbox, prop shaft, and whatever she needs in the HVAC will go in the white one, leaving the engine bay in the blue one vacant, ready for the planned hot-rod swap. Now I'm thinking 4-cam modular Ford again.   :D

A very minor thing by some standards, but I received this yesterday, a Meade moon filter for my telescope. This should help a great deal when viewing the moon.

Got an RCA Video Disc player from the mid 80's and 80 movies for $60.

At the time they were a competitor to the Laser Disc system, but at a lower cost. Really good picture for the time. I had one that I just loved. Eventually wore out and I didn't have the money to replace it (was in the early 90's, and they weren't being made anymore anyway). Held onto my discs until we moved to Ohio in 2006. Always regretted that, and have been looking in thrift stores. Some movies, but hadn't seen a player in over a decade. Found this deal on Offer Up. It had been listed for a year, but I asked if they still had it and they did.

This one isn't as nice as the one I had, I think this is the very first model. No stereo, and no RCA out connectors. Just coax. But I am not complaining. I do need to start looking for a needle/cartridge for it, which may be literally like looking for a needle in a haystack. This one works, but supposedly skips once in a while, which is a symptom of the needle going. I used to be really into these things.

My wife thinks I am nuts (ok she already did), and logically I agree with her. A dvd or better yet blu-ray is really the better way to go now, but for me this is a nostalgia thing, just like models. Even with having to stop the movie at the half way point to flip the disc over. To me that is part of the charm.

Now I am seriously on the hunt for the movies I used to have, some of which still aren't available on anything else, at least not in the form they were on these discs.

Oh, a huge surprise. Most of the movies I got I don't care about, but I figure I bought the machine for $60 and the movies were free. But the surprise one is Star Wars, the 1977 release. This is the original version, before George decided to add stuff that he couldn't do back then. Can't seem to find any of the original version anymore unless you get lucky and find one used. I got LUCKY! (yes, I am not a fan of the redone versions)

Thanks,

Russ

Sounds like a good trade. ?

Cats make remarkably good foot-warmers on those long, lonely winter nights.  ;)

Final black friday order to arrive (also the first ordered) came today, R1 Concepts Geomet 13.39" front rotors to convert my 200 over to the bigger, Euro Market front brakes.

After this, I need front calipers, pads, hoses, and hardware, which are standard 2 piston calipers and parts used on all LX cars.

Computers, books and a first aid cabinet. Reasonable about $6 each until you add ridiculous shipping $20 which brings it up to $47, which turns into $63 CAD.

I look forward to hearing how these sound.

There is just something about swapping pickups... Well I may just have the itch again.

Oh man, these things are just amazing. Whatever guitar you have, I highly recommend swapping in a set of Fluence pickups. The multi-voice feature is just...wow.

So both the volume and tone controls now have push/pull functionality. Leave them down, and "classic" voicing with a warmer Les Paul kind of tone. Sort of. Pull them up, and it switches to "Modern" voicing, and just growls. Ups the boost and totally transforms the tone. The variety of tone I can get from this guitar now is just amazing.

I haven't touched a kit in a week, not since I got this beast back together! I've been playing every night instead of sitting at the bench!

Not exactly bought today, but for the last month, on and off we've been cleaning out the attic, came across these that I got from the Ertl factory in 1994 after writing a magazine article on Amt/Ertl, and got another when i went back in 1996 I'd totally forgot about them, do Ertl still produce these ?

You could spend them in the Ertl outlet store just down the road from the factory, but I decided to keep mine.

And, I have problems, another camera, yes, this is the next model up from the one I got a few months ago,  this is replacing my Nikon D5300 that I am selling. I am saying this is my Christmas present to myself,  B&H Photo had a good deal that I couldnt pass up.

I think you need a few more cameras and lenses before you call it a problem, this is my little lot i have to lug around when I'm working, for my travelling and holidays i take a much lighter kit away with me, a little Nikon 1 V1 and a couple of lenses, not shown in the photos is the Sigma 150-600mm lens which weighs a few kilograms, and a few older DSLR's which don't get used too much these days as there's just a bit on the slow side.
