G' Day Folks,

Decided to have a bit of fun with this kit, it's not bad for an AMT.

There was no way I was going to build it like the box art suggested, so I turned it into an 'unmarked' Police Cruiser.... ;)

Although not accurate, but I think it captures the era in my mind....

Testors Sable Brown Metallic over a Silver base coat and polished using Tamiya finishing compounds, Tamiya USAF Tan for the interior.

All the extras like weapons etc came from my spares box except for the Cop and flat top bubblegum light which are from PoliceCarModels :)

Engine received a bit of detailing which includes a Dominator carb so he can catch the bad guys  !

Cheers n Beers

Ray

Nice 70s style / look on the impala. They sure did have weird colors back then. Hey do you have pics of that 67 impala? I'm really loving that 67 impala a bit more... Love that color? What color is it? And love the baby moons

Hey Erik, built the '67 a few years ago, the colour is 'Mr Color' -Off White # 69, almost looks grey depending on the light! The caps are off a '62 Impala.

Here's a few pics for you.

Very nice build. But, Chevrolet never offered an Impala SS after 1969. Your '70 Impala "SS" is just a plain old Impala I'm afraid. It's still a nice model though.

Cheers Scott, just going on what was written on the box art mate ;)

Ah, good old AMT. Always getting their facts right. NOT! Yea, I forgot their box listed as an SS. But sorry, it's not. By the way, I too like the '67. And am glad you posted more pictures here of it.

Ray that is a great build mate, I have a couple of those 70 Impalas in the pile both are the Fire Chief versions, they already come with steels and dog dish caps, you have certainly inspired me to build one soon !

Love it Ray! I had a 1970 Chevy Impala in that same gold color. Mine was a 350/350 coupe with a gold vinyl roof and interior.

The one thing AMT did wrong on the body was that they have "Impala" two times on the sides, on the front fender and again on the C pillar. Different models that year had it in different places. For instance a convertible had it on the fender, while my car had it on the pillar.

The back sidelights on the 1:1 aren't chrome. The bezel would be body color with the red lens showing through like a series of rectangles. If you pulled the BMF off them and hit them with a red Sharpie pen, you'd have it!

Looks great in the color and those wheels, great build. I see many modern cars in brown metallic,it`s really nice imo.

The 67 is sweet as well.

Tom Geiger's comment about the rear side marker lights are spot-on, and correcting them will give this model the bone stock look you're going for. Otherwise, I love Impalas, and these two models are beautiful! Keep it up!
