christian-w Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Good morning and hello! My name is Christian and I joined the board because there are a lot of cool builts to see, awesome projects and surely cool people. It's a long time ago, I visited the page often. But since it's possible to attach pictures, I saw the need for a registration. My borther >Dominik< forced me too to become a member of MCM. So here I am Some data of me... I'm 41 years old and live in Meckenheim near Bonn (formerly capital city before the wall came down). I'm luckily divorced (whoohoo!) but perfectly happy in a relationship. I'm a big fan of The Simpsons and like my 1:1 cars. I'm a professional soldier at the armed forces' department (hopefully the right translation) and I think it's my last post here in Bonn before I retire in 2029 . Model building career... I'm building model kits since I was approximately 12 years old. My main interest is in cars, scaled 1/24 or 1/25. I'm a big fan of the USA and so my collection is mostly for US cars. I own 162 ready built models, something around 50 model kits are less or more on the workbench and 264 are still in the shelf. I think, if I could build one model kit each month, I wouldn't be able to finish them all Also it would mean, that I don't have to buy one more. I think, I'm not the only one here with the instinct of the "hunter and gathering"-guy. The last weeks I pointed out, that I'm in the mood to build some trucks. I built my last one around 20 years ago - holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, time flies! I chose the Ford LTL 9000 or/and Aeromax - because it looks really cool and it's seen less than Peterbilt or Freightliner (in German forums) - and when I was a kid, we had one. My search went on to find exactly such a kid we (my brother and I) had. After I had some brainstorming with my brother, it was clear which truck it was: the Ford 9000 LTL in 1/24 of Italerie (kit #728). So I'm on this kit since some weeks. My English might be good enough to talk about different topics while I'm in the States on holiday but maybe in this special topic (building model kits) it could be hard to describe or explain something. Please be patient I'm happy to be her, let's go!
Foxer Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Welcome Christian .. you sure have someone to look up to in your brother. I'll be looking foward to seeing some of your work.
1930fordpickup Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Welcome. Many of us more than we can build in a lifetime.
Ramfins59 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Welcome to our plastic playground Christian.
Tom Geiger Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) Welcome Christian! I am American but I lived in Pirmasens as a child from 1969-72. I build mainly US light commercial vehicles, such as pickup trucks, but I have a fondness for old Euro cars from my time there. So my current build is a Trabant Universale! I'm happy to have the International diversity of the board. Edited December 21, 2014 by Tom Geiger
christian-w Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 A Trabant You wouldn't believe, that I don't have this car in my collection. Once I had it, but sold it decades ago I see a Studebaker in your avatar - is this yours? Love them Thank you for the welcome words! You can be sure, that I look up to my brother. First he forced me to build model cars again (had a break a couple of years while I had some trainings because of my career) and then he showed my this incredible forum with so many awesome builds. I'm gonna start some threads with my latest builds. Maybe some of my childhood. Thank you! I appreciate it
Jantrix Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Welcome. Your brother was an excellent addition to our Cannonball CBP last year and we're looking forward to seeing your work,
christian-w Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Thank you, Rob. Yes, he told me about the contest and - not only for that - I'm really proud to be his brother His imagination and creativity is awesome. And when we meet each other in his home (we live approx. 330km / 200mi apart) I always get one "how to" lesson. And: it's astonishing, how fast he works. He has a basic knowledge where I'm thousands miles away. But: for my work it's good enough. Yesterday we "brainstormed" via whatsapp a little and I decided, to take part at the Cannonball run 2015.
