KJ790 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Calling this one done. Started as a Moebeus Great Dane. I scratch built the rear doors, landing gear, and Carrier unit. Rims and tires are the ones I sell on my website.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Man that looks good. It looks like its waitin for the driver to show and go for a run with. Looks like its sittin in a shippers yard.
kilrathy10 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Great work.....All the mods look great.....I still can't get over how much I like this, particular, Moebius issue.....It's making all my AMT truck builds come alive.....And this shows what even more potential it has.....Those wheels and tires are very realistic......Gonna have to get me a set of those.... chuckyr Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Best looking Moebius reefer trailer I've seen so far.
Rigzndiesel Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I agree. This is a beautiful build of the kit! I like it a lot. Lots of detail on this trailer! Jeff
tbill Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 KJ, you're gonna have to change your initials to TK, for trailer king, looks dynamite man! and that refer unit looks fabulous, well done!
Christopher J Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 The trailer looks excellent!! I have a couple in my stash for upcoming builds. Do you by chance have any build picks of the trailer doors?
KJ790 Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) The trailer looks excellent!! I have a couple in my stash for upcoming builds. Do you by chance have any build picks of the trailer doors? Here is what I have, not the clearest pictures. The first picture is with the door frame built with the "tile" pattern styrene glued in place. I glued .020" thick strips of styrene across the where the hinges go to imitate the "straps" that Utility uses where their hinges mount. I also made a vent door out of styrene. I then covered the whole thing in bare metal foil and painted the straps across the back gray. I made hinges using .010" thick styrene strip and styrene rod, then painted them silver. At this point I added my decals. I then made the door cams and handles using styrene rod and thin strips for the mounting points. For the handles I filed some .080"x.080" square rod into the shape I wanted. Edited January 12, 2015 by KJ790
