landman Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Mocking up a location for the exhaust muffler. Cooling tower is ready to install.
Anglia105E Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Nice pink piping going to the exhaust muffler Pat..... ( yes, I know you intend to paint the piping )..... I bet you are pleased with the cooling tower, it is brilliant! David
landman Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Thank you David. Except for two details we are done. Two dynamometers hooked up. One has a Ford SOHC 427 on a water brake dyno, the other a Cumminc NTC 475 on a current dyno. I think the test cell turned out OK.
Anglia105E Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 The test cell has definately turned out nicely. Would there have been some sort of mesh guard over the moving parts of the engine? We don't want test engineers going too close to those pulleys while wearing a tie...... or maybe only Rolls-Royce engineers would wear a tie? Could be a danger to fingers or long hair, or any item of clothing. David
landman Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Nobody goes into the cell while the engine is running.

Gramps46 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Super nice indeed. The attention to detail is remarkable. The clock on the wall is a great idea. I agree that when in operation the room is off limits.

I agree that when in operation the room is off limits. It is an atmospheric clock which gives both temperature and humidity, both of which can affect the engine's performance.
landman Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 Added a confuser and printer, albeit a bit old fashioned. But then, so is the Boss.
Gramps46 Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Really super craftsmanship and to know you used available objects tailored to you needs is encouraging to us all.
landman Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Added some scratching and scraping marks to the bottom of the doors where the dollies would rub. Added a valve rack to the valve grinder.
Anglia105E Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 There's a lot going on in your workshops Pat, and everywhere you look there is something of interest...... just looked back at some of your previous pages, mainly because I opened page 4 instead of page 21, and noticed all sorts of little details that I had probably missed before. Marvellous stuff! David

landman Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 FTB has refurbished an older 302 crate engine. It will be returned to the Deuce where it lived and worked for many years.
Gramps46 Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Nice engine build as we have come to expect from the FTB crew. The oil stains are a great touch on the pallet.

landman Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) Looks like the little extinguisher by the door may not have enough oomph in it to put out a fire in an engine that is running flat out. So A hobby knife blade container, a curtain glide and some odds and sods are coming to the rescue. They will become a large cart type extinguisher. Edited November 25, 2020 by landman
Anglia105E Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Phew.... that's a relief Pat..... I was worried about that small fire extinguisher on the wall, and what would happen if there was a diesel engine runaway ( or petrol / gas ). No, seriously that is a wise precaution for your diorama facilities. David
