Anglia105E Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 That's the one Pat...... those pistons and con rods are just what you need. David

landman Posted June 11, 2019 Author Posted June 11, 2019 The top is too thick. I have to find something thinner. I also have to learn how to do magazines and newspapers.
landman Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 Changed the top to a thinner, clearer "glass". Will see about detailing the decks.
Anglia105E Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 The thinner, clearer table top looks better, Pat..... and I like the V8 block, con rods and pistons. This table idea of yours should look the business in your shop. David
landman Posted June 18, 2019 Author Posted June 18, 2019 Someone dropped a couple of magazines on the table.
Anglia105E Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I see a couple of publications on the the table top...... nicely done, Pat. David

landman Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 FTB has recently completed a 303 Oldsmobile engine. The potentially lucrative customer is still lurking around the shop. However, he hasn't spent a cent yet. The engine didn't have its turtle back carb so one was scratched using an upside down Dominator as a base.
Anglia105E Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I haven't seen a ' turtle back ' carb before, but clearly you have put one together nicely. The lurking customer, potential customer, must surely be interested in this engine? He is certainly your best model figure I reckon, Pat and he adds a level of realism to your excellent work that is so important. David
landman Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 It was a beautiful evening last night so I set up on the desk and started foiling. When I was rubbing down the strip across the header it snapped. Either I was heavy handed or that plastic is super brittle. In any case I glued it back together with a clamp to keep it straight. Well, this morning I broke it again trying to remove the clamp. Ah well, them's the breaks. Should be able to disguise everything with the foil and a dab of paint.
Anglia105E Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Yes, Pat.... every so often I get one particular part, or one area of a car build that falls on the floor, breaks off ( again ) or simply refuses to play the game. I just don't get it? Looks like a dab of paint and some foil should cover that breakage of yours. As long as we stay calm, and don't beat ourselves up too much about it, this hobby of ours must be RELAXING and ENJOYABLE....... I keep reminding myself that's what this is all about. David
landman Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Wow! I'm really losing it, this post should be in the car's build thread. Sheesh!
landman Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Well......The potentially lucrative customer, after all his lurking around the shop has turned into a lucrative customer. His first commission, a Ferrari 365 engine. The Boss is happy and he is undoubtedbly discussing further work as the engine is being readied for shipment.
Gramps46 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Nice engine. I like the weathering, not all bright and shiny.
landman Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 And he did come through, a Cadillac V16 and a Duesenberg SJ.
landman Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 Started painting the new guy. Not sure how to handle whatever he is reading. looks almost like a newspaper.
Anglia105E Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 That's another interesting figure you have there, Pat...... perhaps you could reduce the size of an image of a newspaper to 1:24 scale, print it out on standard paper and glue it to whatever he is holding? Failing that, you can get doll's house newspapers in 1:24 scale, very cheaply I believe. David
landman Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 It turns out he's reading the Hudson Italia article in the May 2005 issue of Hemming's Classic Cars.
landman Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) It has been pointed out that the casters on the dollies may be too small for the weight of some of those engines. So here goes. Edited July 13, 2019 by landman
landman Posted September 18, 2019 Author Posted September 18, 2019 I wonder what they are discussing.
