Example; Revell '37 Ford Coupe 1/24 and 1/24 '36 Ford Coupe idea: Parts should interchange to make a stock '37 Ford, right, WRONG!!! I cut up two models now I have a stalled project. Since they are already cut up, maybe two jolopies for the weekend crash up derby. Throw another '37 Ford flatback sedan in the mix now I have three stalled projects all in one box. Tired of thinking about it, now build a quick build to come out of the slump. Now two quick builds. WOW!!!!! What's next???

Most of the reasons for me are because. ..

1.I need more info for the project?..85% of tbe time.

2.Need parts I can't find or need to still get. 5%

3.Don't know or need to find a solution to a problem I caused or the kit has,and if I'm modding something then how to do it or invent a better way. 7%

4.Yep...get boarded 3%

Thats the main reason.I know I have 35 active projects.I like it that way.

It seems like every time I pick up a new kit that the one I'm working on gets moved to the stack, or I get into the garage and pick up a kit I forgot I had, or forgot it was moved to the waiting status, and I'm sidetracked again.

Mostly because I over engineer every build. or it gets to a point that is very complicated and instead of just doing a quick out of box stock slump build i end up starting another totally over engineered super detailed build and another and another and can never get them finished.

I share an attention span with my dog. I start working on something and... squirrel.

Lol. Sometimes I feel the same way. But really, I usually get carried away adding details and then I'll get impatient or bored and start something else. So it takes me a long time to finish a build. The guys in my club get a kick out of ribbing me about it. :)

Now I don't feel bad at all about my non-finishing thanks to you all! My reasons weave all through what everyone has said .. and we al seem to be in the same boat .. and a GOOD one it is! :)

i was tempted to start a new thread, or add to the one with "should we have a LIKE button" in the heading, but apparently did neither.

yet, my suggestion remains. with the plethora of information available through the internet, any time a member asks a fairly innocent question, almost invariably some wise-acre comes up with "google is your fiend (sic)" or some-such variation including that cute little animation 'let me google that for you'.

so maybe there should be a section whereas, under house rules and warning points count double, folks could ask a legitimate question and be assured the aforementioned responses would not be viable solutions.

i am in the midst of building the Tamiya Morris Mini-Cooper (project #748 - building out of sequence). i simply wanted my suspicion of battery location confirmed, so i did the dreaded google search. this was at 6:18 AM, today. by 7:25 AM, i had added over a dozen bookmarks to my models file, joined 2 more model car forums, a Morris Minor forum, and am awaiting approval of another forum just to view some pictures a member of Britmodeler referred.

and i still don't know if that little square thing molded into the trunk floorpan is supposed to be the battery.

why can't i get anything done? too many peripherals!!!

The number one thing that stalls me has got to be my work schedule, as I "earn" more responsibility it means many times that major overtime is going to hit my fan!

Lately I have been using this time as research, rendering, parts gathering and getting all the needed materials lined up to begin the project model. It absolutely drives me nuts to get to a point on a model only to realize that I didn't get all the stuff needed to finish the job. Being organized as an Engineer naturally carries over to hobby stuff as well, I list out all the assembly steps, including painting processes, crossing each step as its completed. I find that when I have to shelve a project due to time or in some cases requests to do paint work, lettering, striping on someone else' ride or even when someone requests a model for themselves or a gift or else it's work getting in the way.

I find that since I have started being "overly" organized with projects that I am finishing more, even those ones that seem possessed! The ones you end up painting several times because it slipped and fell on the floor , maybe looks like a dustpan got poured over it!! I had one that I sat on the kitchen table to get my wife's oppinion and my empty thermos sitting across the table somehow flew, across the table on its own and fell on the hood nearly destroying the whole front end in the process. Lucky it went bact together better than it did the first time. Those types of incidents would have been models I would have shelved before, for some reason I have more patience to pick'em up and finish the project. There are those few that still go to the "back of the line" and get picked up "whenever". I have to remind myself that I'm doing this to relax, so just take a deep breath and refocus.

The answer to your question is, the battery is located in the boot (trunk) to the right of the spare tire well, rectangular box below the boot floor on driver's side on a RHD Mini. This would hold true for all Classic Mini Saloons from 1959 thru 2000, including the Clubman. not entirely certain on the Traveler or the Mini Truck. Hope this helps.

This is exactly my problem as well...

Searching for different views of 1:1's of the kits I'm building seems to take hours!

While looking for references this morning I found a site that I belong to, but don't remember signing up for,...

So spent some time looking at everybody elses builds,....again ,...Hours

Oh well it ain't a race :)

The biggest thing that stalls my builds is overreaching and geting stuck when I can't make what I've done so far work. I can't seem to leave a kit alone so every one gets half it's parts from somewhere else and needs parts special made and sometimes I just can't figure out how to do it so it goes back in the box for a few more years. If I could ever build one with just the parts in the box I'd get a bunch done but it never seems to work out that way.

My biggest reason is that I get more interested in something else, than what I'm presently working on. Like a little child, I'm very easily distracted. My life space is littered with (temporarily) abandoned and neglected projects.

It's usually one of 3 things:

Paint- something paint-wise gets screwed up and I don't feel like trying to fix it

Boredom- I lose my interest in a project and put it aside

Weather- it seems like when I want to build (winter) it's too cold to paint in the basement (and my wife doesn't let me paint in my man cave)

Usually it's the first of those three though.

..... wife doesn't let me paint in my man cave ....

so ... it's really an "ours" cave? cave-ette?

Well it's next to the bedroom and the baby's room so I understand not wanting fumes.
