om617
I don't believe there to be a difference between the two other than included decals. The kits are now IN STOCK! One is right hand drive and the other is left hand drive. Here are tons of pics of the Timo version. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10369007/10/

louie
Wondering who stocks this kit. I can't seem to find it anywhere ( online ). I do not have any hobby shop's near me so any help with finding it online would be great. Thank you. Jeff
Roncla
I've had mine here for awhile now. The only issue I can see is that while the tyres are perfectly moulded with excellent tread pattern they are very stiff. To get them on the rims I have had to soak them in hot water to make them pliable. I have read on other forums where Belkits earlier releases are having issues with the tires eating the rims after a period of time.

1959scudetto
Thank you Rob. I appreciate the info on the kit. I've been looking everywhere, but not there. Again, Thank you and I'm off to Hobby Link Japan. Jeff I just got my timo Mäkinen kit from Hobby Link Japan:Awesome!!! Though curbside, the kit is loaded with details: metal transfer emblems, fabric strips in blue and black for the seat belts, delicate photo-etch parts for the belt buckles, grill, brake discs and more, fantastic decal sheet by Cartograf, a perfectly proportioned body (Tamiya quality!) 2 different sets of tires (gravel/asphalt) round and square headlights, windshield wipers for right hand (Roger Clark, 1972) and left hand drive version (Timo Mäkinen, 1973), 2 different grilles with either round (rally!) or square headlights (racing!) - maybe I have forgotten some details, but this kit cries for being built in several versions: with the slicks and minilite mags swapped from Revell/ESCI's Escort MkII it is possible to make a Broadspeed or Alan Mann Touring Car racer (RHD)....I'm gonna get me at least one more - the Roger Clark's version looks good, too..... chunkypeanutbutter
Oh, geez... $50 is somewhere I rarely go for a single kit, but the Escort is such a beautiful machine...
dublin boy
I was glad to see the square headlights too, you need them for the Alan Mann racer.,nice red and gold paint job and you're done. But I did see a review (that I can't find again..) saying that it looks difficult to lower it down to Tarmac spec. It's an expensive kit to cut up though. lysleder
Now whaddayaknow. Did Timo Makinen use grooved discs in 1973? And discs is the back too. Must have been pretty cutting edge at the time.
dublin boy
They had four wheel discs for sure, I'm pretty sure they were grooved too, they were running on small rims back then, so small brakes and brake fade otherwise.
