cobraman Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Finished this one up a bit ago. It's the AMT kit which is pretty simple but a neat kit all the same. I sanded down the bed cover to make it look more like a hard cover. The roof supports are plastic tubing. Drilled holes in the side for the aluminum tubing exhaust. Modified the dash a bit and removed the wipers. Hood scoop is from the parts box as is the rear spoiler. Made a front spoiler from sheet plastic. The aluminum wheel discs are from Scale Repro. Paint is just some cheap Rustoleum red with the same in clear. Comments always welcome pro or con.
Belugawrx Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Jeez you guys are pumpin' these out !! Looks nice Ray You've got quite a nice salt flat grouping going on Cheers
wayne swayze Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That looks good Ray! Love the Moon style discs and exhaust ports also. (Is the '53 dry yet? heh heh) Just messin' with ya on that.

bobthehobbyguy Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nice work on the ranchero. Just curious what paint did you use on the stude?
Tom Geiger Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Very cool Ray! A great build from one of my favorite kits. I especially like the way you converted that custom tail gate piece to hold the chute! Here's that same part on the green custom Ranchero.
slusher Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Fantastic build Ray. Great mods also. What size discs did you use in the wheels Ray??? You might have to strip the stude if it doesn't dry...
cobraman Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Thanks men. The 53 was painted with Rustoleum paint. It's been what, 3 weeks ? I would hate to strip it because the paint does look pretty good. I will give it another week or so.

cobraman Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Carl, they were just listed as small. I got them on ebay.
TooOld Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That looks great Ray ! Nothing wrong with that "cheap" paint , I've used it and never had any problems with it .
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Ray is it possible you didn't shake the can enough?
cobraman Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 No Bob. I shook it quite a bit as always. Rattle was good, sprayed fine. It's a puzzler for me.
