Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Tamiya Nissan Skyline GT-R C10 “Street Custom” kit, bought for me by my best friend Conor. Mods to the kit: Heat-proofing on the headers, fire extinguisher, bucket seat, lowered front suspension, exhaust tip, Decals, licence plate. Freehand drawn "Mooneyes" on the splitter. I lost the indicators for the kit so I used decals from a Tamiya Toyota Supra. This is the first kit I've finished in a long time, in fact I started it last christmas and am only just getting it finished now. Normally for me a kit is finished in a few days! But I'm really happy with how it turned out and I tried my best to get it finished as nicely as possible since it was a present to me and I wanted it to come out right. It's gotten me over modeller's block anyway! All comments are much appreciated! Cheers
Nacho Z Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Very nice model, Tomo. I like the engine shot. The whole model looks very cleanly built.
BubbaJoe Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 nice work ...the engine came out very nice
Danny Lectro Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I like that very much, it came out very nice. I like the color choice.
'70 Grande Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Beautiful build! I'd bet this would really fly in the 1:1 world! Just curious; is the corner of the trunk lid where the gas fill is located on these cars?
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Like it a lot, really love that engine. I'm starting to pay a lot more attention to the Asian hot-rods. This would be a fine car to get stuck driving every day.
Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Wow, thanks for the responses everyone! @Mark - I'm not too sure, actually. There's literally nowhere else I can see on the model for filling up fuel, so that may be the case... Thanks again!
Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Went through my photo archive, managed to find some of the interior shots It wasn't finished at this point but it shows the things I added and gives you a rough idea. It's too delicate to take apart now for pics, wish I had've thought to take some finished ones...
DumpyDan Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Wow great detailing on the interior, great build
Pizzwizz24 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 This is a such a great build all around Tomo! Color choice, engine detail, interior....all so clean and well detailed. Personally, I absolutely love it. Well done!
Daddyfink Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Very nice! At the last Japanese Classic Car Show, someone fired up a Skyline with that twin cam and they sound super awesome!
Eric N. Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Looks good in blue! That kit is on my to do list.
Zarana-X Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Nice work on this. I've been eyeing this kit for awhile.
Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Thank you so much everyone! The kit is usual tamiya, practically falls together. Well, it WOULD, but I had some issues since I decided to modify the suspension to get it lower at the front, but that's my fault!
Helix Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Nice work Tomo ! I gather you left the rear bumper off because of the Licence plate, just looking at the exposed locating holes...
Shelby 427 1965 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Thanks! Oh no, the rear bumper would've been fine with the licence plate, it's supposed to go over the bumper if you were to install it. I left it off and left the holes there to keep the 70s street racer sorta look.
Drake69 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Another kit I'm going to have to get. Beautiful car!
