Next up I think I will see how bad I can screw this one up. : ) I bought some resin slicks for it because I didn't care much for the stock ones. Plan on doing some minor changes. Anybody built this ?

I look forward to seeing this come to life. every time I go to hobby lobby, I pick this kit up, look it over, then put it back down. maybe seeing one built will persuade me to finally get one.

have you considered reinforcing the seams from the inside (as long as it won't bee seen or interfere with other pieces) in order to toughen it up for polishing and handling later?

Very cool. I keep looking at that kit, and considering the possibilities. WIth the Minicraft Model A's for swap bait, it really opens up some interesting avenues.

Making some progress here. Some chrome was stripped and some parts either primed or primed and painted. Tires in this kit are pretty bad. I was able to find some 2 piece resin slicks that are much fatter than the stock ones and should look better. One the fronts it looks like I will be stuck with the kit ones as I could not find anything else suitable. Still lots to do but going forward.

what kind of front tires are ya looking for?

I've been accumulating 1/16 scale kits...I'm fairly certain I won't be using skinny stock tires on some of the AMT kits.

I've got a set of front tires and spoked rims from a Don Garlits dragster or a set from a Chi Town Hustler funny car. in 1/16th scale. how skinny you want to go?

PM me if you are interested.

I bought this kit last year on my way to NNL East, could not find it anywhere in my area in Canada. Anyway looking forward to see how this kit goes together and any trouble you might have, so far looks great.

Not very far yet Dan but have not discovered and big problems yet. The body is multi piece but goes together well. Too much chrome for my tastes but that's an easy fix. And the tires are not very nice. I wish it had a turtle deck or a pick up box for the rear.

Just discovered that they do not include a fan belt of any type. Not a huge deal but thought I would mention it. Also they suggest that you wire up the engine with thread. They have a hole in the magneto for wire but then want you to glue the thread ends to the block as no holes are included there. Again not a problem but thought that was odd.

Not too far from the finish line. This kit really isn't too bad. the tires like I mentioned before are the worst part. The directions could be a bit clearer but maybe that's just me.

Hey Ray, the build looks amazing. Since you mentioned a turtle back would be great to have on the back, got me thinking just how tuff would it be to scratch build one. Wondering if there was ever a 1/16 T with a turtle back in the 60's? Anybody know?

Ray, looking great man, love that color!

I think I may pick this kit up next time I see it, the box art does nothing for me, but seeing your build has talked me into it.
