bondo bill Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 This is a kit from a swap meet that I've been meaning to work on. I had to repair a split hood, but otherwise most of the pieces were in good shape. The paint is two tone, with foil, and I blacked out the grille. I used Duplicolor rechrome on the bumpers, but I might redo it when I have some more time. The tail lights are custom from an AMT '56 Ford. The wheels and tires are from an AMT '36 Ford reissue. I may add some decals or graphics, and a surfboard/surf rack later on. Comments welcome!
disabled modeler Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 NICE.... ...I have one but it needs another body, glass, and bumpers.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Boy, that's a rare bird. Looks great. Clean. I've been told these are slightly over-scale. What do you think?

StevenGuthmiller Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I've never been a big wagon fan, but I do have to admit, the'61 Ford was a pretty good looking wagon. Pretty clean looking compared to some of the other wagons of the period. Steve
Sixties Sam Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Very nice! Great finish and foil work! Wagons are cool! I think those Hubley kits were 1/24 scale. Sam
59-Desoto Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Nothin like a cool grocery getter, Love it all it needs now is a load of rug rats in it LOL
ChrisBcritter Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Love that color combination! I take it this was a promo (the kits were molded in white); did you have any issues with that plastic? The tail lights are custom from an AMT '56 Ford. Are those custom lenses you added to the '61 bezels, or all new? I could use a set of originals if you took them off. (By the way, if anyone else has one of these they're building stock, look for a set of the custom wheelcovers from the original Monogram '55 Chevy - they're actually '61 Ford plus they're 1/24 scale like the Hubley kit.)
Drake69 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 It's so cool to see the 50's and 60's wagons done up like this. We need more of them! Great stuff!

TFchronos Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Wagons are always a neat subject, excellent work on yours.
