mustang1989 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Dan: Thanks bud! Greg: LOL! Just couldn't leave it the way it was. Ira: I appreciate this coming from the master of imagination.
mustang1989 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks Carl! I'm battling the dash fit at the dash/ windshield area right now! Jeez!!
tbill Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 wow, just wow, I have been slacking on keeping up with stuff here, looking fantastic Joe. only one complaint.....no balance weight on the driveshaft..........
mustang1989 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks Tom. This thing is giving me hell the whole way but we're gettin' there.
Mopar - D Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Joe you would not be having so much fun with this build if it didn't keep pushing you with these problems. You have done great so far keep it going.
mustang1989 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Thanks Dan. I just keep my head down and keep plugging away at it. You gonna make the show in August? I'm gonna try like hell to make it. I dunno if I'll have this done by then though. Edited June 5, 2015 by mustang1989
Mopar - D Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I'm planning to make the HAMS show in August. I hope to have the Roll Back done.
mustang1989 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 That'll be good to see you again buddy!! Sorry I haven't been around for a bit but I've been out of pocket for the last couple of days. Me and my family went to a lake cabin for the weekend and it was great !!! Spent the whole weekend not doing a dang thing except relaxing and it was long overdue. No demands on our time, no computer and definitely no family/ relatives nagging at us. Just straight up family time. The cabin: The pier:( the view right outside of the cabin) and the scene out on the pier at sundown: I didn't catch a thing but I had a great time!!
slusher Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Looks relaxing Joe. i always liked just watching the water...
mustang1989 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Man it was Carl. I got this in the mail today. Only three more to get the whole bunch of 'em. (I built all of these as a kid so I'm anxious to get a second shot at them.)
Stray Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I've got that box, was given to me buy a friend a long time ago, but the 54 Panel I have is the later street edition. The only Street Demon kit I have is this one
mustang1989 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 That's one of the three that I have left to get. Let's see.... I still need that one.... This one...... and this one......
slusher Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Great box art on all of those Street Demon kits but that 54 panel is wicked. When i was a kid box art made my choices...
mustang1989 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Dan: There are six in all. Those three that are pictured above plus the 54 that I got today . Then this: and then the 56 F-100
mustang1989 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 The Sedan Delivery you have isn't too hard to find. I'm finding that the 41 Willy's, the 54 Chevy Panel wagon and the 29 Model A Pick up are tough to get ahold of. You can buy the 56 F-100's fairly easy and the Chopped Duece is also fairly attainable. I buy copies of the kit in the newer releases which are cleaned up quite a bit. The new release of the 56 F-100 and the 54 Panel Wagon will be extremely helpful in the modification department as they are easy to come by right now.
Foxer Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Been enjoying this build. I never saw that '54 Chevy Panel before and reminded me of the Woodie build I'm working on. It's not a drag racer though. Edited June 10, 2015 by Foxer
mustang1989 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks Mike! I'm still pluggin' away at it but nothing worth pics at this point. There's a lot of loose ends to tie up even so far!!! lol. Hopefully this weekend will afford me some good opportunity to work on it and show some sort of progress! That's a nifty lil' wagon you've got goin' there.
mustang1989 Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) Ok folks I've got an update...............FINALLY!!!! I took a break from the suspension/ brake system build up to concentrate all my efforts on what I dreaded the most....the flame decals. As I was applying the decals I suddenly remembered back 30+ years ago when I built this kit for the first time my experience with them. You see, there so much clear carrier film intermixed with the flames that they don't conform too well to all the contours of the hood...................AT ALL! Large bubbles and air pockets everywhere!! My first thought was to do what I did 30 years ago and pull 'em off and say screw it! I bought myself a little time to think by removing the decal from the hood and leaving in a bowl of water overnight. Last night I laid the decal out on a paper towel to dry somewhat and began cutting out the clear carrier film from the flames (BTW these decals are as tough as a boot!! Especially for being 32 years old!!!!!) . This morning I re-applied the decal with ALOT of Microsol. It took me the better part of 3 hours of smoothing and cutting the clear carrier from the edges of the flames to get this result. I've got my procedure down now and the other side won't be half this much work. I've still got a little work to do on it in the way of tidying up and applying a small area of flames on this side but I had to take a dang break!! Edited June 12, 2015 by mustang1989
Mopar - D Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Joe way to stay with it on some hard to apply decals. Looks like you got it it. Good luck on the the next one.
