mustang1989 Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Thanks JC! I'll keep that one in mind for future dual quad applications buddy.
tbill Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Joe, just got caught up on this build, absolutely fantastic so far. your attention to detail is incredible! keep it up brother!
mustang1989 Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Thank you Carl and Tom!! I was going to get up this morning and work on it some more but had a pretty bad headache so I slept this session out. I did have some time later on in the morning after about 5 more hours of sleep to siddown and work on the drivers seat some. Some dust had landed in the paint (go figure!) so I lightly sanded the affected areas with some 3600 to smooth it all out and went too far and would up down to the primer in two spots. One step forward...two steps back. More progress in this coming week. I hope to start laying paint down on the body by Friday. Edited August 30, 2015 by mustang1989
mustang1989 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Well I got my pedals in a couple of days ago. This should add some humor into the interior of the build....And for the steering column. In the foreground is what the kit instructions say is a steering column. Wow! Folks that just looks terrible at best!! Behind it is a column from Parks that I'll be using instead. Now to decide on what steering wheel I'm gonna use.....
Ramfins59 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Joe, I don't know how I missed this thread for so long, but I just went through all 17 pages...... all I have to say is...... WOW...!!!!!! Your over the top attention to accurate and realistic detailing is just outstanding. My hat is off to you sir...!!!
mustang1989 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 I really appreciate your comments there Richard. Thanks buddy!
Mopar - D Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Joe those aftermarket parts are going to look nice in the interior.
mustang1989 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 David G: Thanks a lot for the encouragement buddy! Dan: Where have you been? Great to see you around again pal. 35 days left and counting.....................
slusher Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Big improvement on the column Joe. The other one looks like some sprue. Are you using the big foot pedal Joe??
mustang1989 Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Thanks Carl and yes sir I'll be using the "foot" pedal. Gotta have some humor in the interior. lol The past few days have been spent on body prep for paint. Sanding, filing, filling and all that stuff. Anyhow, moving right to the "meat and potatoes" of the post.......I painted the cab this morning with Tamiya Acrylic Red X-7 and will be letting it dry out for the rest of the day. So far I'm ok with it but have one paint run on the R/H side that I'll have to wet sand out. It'll be a little tricky because it's right on a high point but I think if I'm careful enough I'll be ok.Todays progress..... Edited September 7, 2015 by mustang1989
Yo Jutt Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 This keeps getting better and better Joe. Looks great keep up the good work!
slusher Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Joe, that foot pedal was used by some guys when i was in high school. I had one a fried gave me at my mothers some where but your pedals made me think of all that. Glad your painting. I think you can wet sand it out your run. Would have been nice if it would have been lower....
mustang1989 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Justin: Thanks buddy! I just hope and cross my fingers that nothing goes wrong from here on out....... Carl: I remember those foot pedals very well. I used to get a real laugh out of 'em and was my inspiration for putting one in this build. Thank you as well for the comments.
Travis T Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Looking good. That version of the kit was one of the first models I ever really screwed up probably almost 30 years ago. Tried to paint it red, then yellow over the red. Dad showed me how to strip it then he painted it light blue. Still got it in storage.
mustang1989 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Thanks Travis! I'll be following along on your build.
Travis T Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Hope you are a patient guy haha. Did you have a lot of trouble sorting out the inner fender and hood fit? These are more fiddly than I remember.
mustang1989 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I haven't made it that far yet but have already been dreading that one. Will let you know....................shortly.
mustang1989 Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 Just couldn't help myself. Had to get these..........
disabled modeler Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Joe...That is going to be really sweet when done...very nice work!
mustang1989 Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) Thanks Carl! Got this last night........... as well as another one of these..... (I sanded too much from the base of the hood scoop ! ) Edited September 10, 2015 by mustang1989
