christian-w
Newly registered, I'd like to show some finished model kits during my model-builder-career First of all, I start with my two Porsche 944. The coupe I build as a Christmas gift of the kind of a modeling club. In the meantime it's tradition, to make a present to a big bag and everyone grabs one of it. Before the unwrapping starts, we chose a motto. Then it's the task to finish the build until the next year's Christmas meeting. So I grabbed the Porsche 944 and the motto was "yellow". I was happy with the motto and the car So her it is with a couple of pictures. Base of the model is the following kit: 1986 Porsche 944 S 1/24 Italerie #3659 A quite simple kit. I decided to let the hood closed because the engines compartment is not that awesomeness. You know. Painted it yellow and sealed with clear coat. All out of the spry can. I dechromed the rims and painted them with regular silver. I didn't like the chrome because they aren't chromed originally and it looks a little like a children's toy. The upholstery are self-made decals. Painted the window trim with airbrush, completed the rear wiper with a motor and two cables and that it in summary. Here the pictures.... christian-w
Additional to the coupe I built the convertible at the same time. For you as an information, it's this kit: 1989 Porsche 944 Cabrio 1/24 Italerie #655 Built it oob except the rims (also dechromed) and the upholstery. Kennyboy
Welcome Christian!! I really like both of your builds, but the yellow one is just awesome looking! Great job!
spideyfoot
Love the "OP Art" Interior. I always thought that was cool on the real ones back in the day as well. The wiper motor brings the rear glass to life.

ZIL 111V
Willkommen! Herr Weitzer. Very Nice OOBs, Like the cabrio, inner seats of both kits look great! Remember getting the cabrio (#655) 1st original kit, when it came out in the early 90s (1990/91).
Pizzwizz24
Well done on both but the yellow coupe really looks fantastic! Wiper motor is a great little touch and you made a great choice stripping and refinishing the wheels.

ZTony8
I just got the coupe kit(in a Testor box) last week as a gift.Since the engine looks a bit too basic the kit looks to be a candidate for an engine swap.A Ford small block or maybe a GM ZL1 come immediately to mind.Blown Gasser Hemi Porsche perhaps? Foxer
Both are beautiful buildups! Some really ckean work there! I can appreciate these as I had five 1:1 924/944's. I do miss those engines, though .. I always loved the look of these slanted large cylinder fours. Both the Testors and Hasegawa 944's could use some improvements, but so do most kit engines. There are pieces of both that could be switched to make an even better one. I'm working on my first 944, an '84, and my last, a '91 S2 and have been stealing parts and switching form some junker kits I had. The '91 S2 is starting with the 3'0 liter engine from the Hasegawa 968 ... though it's really the same block as the 944 turbo. My avatar is the engine from the build of an '87 944 I had. This was REALLY fun convertin gth eturbo back to a normally aspirated. I also have one of my '81 924 Turbo in the works .. I need to get something finished. ehhe
christian-w
Thank you for the Kind words I appreciate that I switched to some memories of the youth. It's the same for me. I built the Cabrio approx. 25 years ago and sold it with a bunch more cars in 2007-2008. The funny part of the old one above: it turned from grey metallic to red as seen on the picture. So I bought the Cabrio new because of the memories and built it with my skills nowadays. I still have the very first built car in my model-building-career - a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro from Revell. @Mike ... I saw the Porsche some weeks ago and have to say: the engine compartment looks awesome! If this would be the compartments of the kit I'd opened them for sure.
