VW93
While doing some errands yesterday spotted this Willys about a mile from where I live. Stopped in as it was the first time I had ever seen it parked outside. I spoke with the owner and he mentioned it was one of ten that he knew of that was stock. It was found in a barn in Maine intact but needing a restoraton. Paint and bodywork is about 20 years old, original seat and door panels need to be redone. I need to stop back and reshoot the interior pics. Original engine has been rebuilt, oil bath air filter converted to paper element for ease of maintenance. FASTBACK340
I remember seeing a stock Black one at Maple Grove way-back in the 90's at the Vintage Drags they hosted then. Really stood out in that environment.
Ramfins59
That looks great. I've often thought about trying to build a model of a stock Willys.
High octane
Being a huge gasser fan, I've seen a lot of Willys, but only one or two stock ones. They look really good in showroom stock condition.
Chuck Most
So cool to see one of these in original condition. Can't be too many totally factory Willys coupes in existence anymore.
Casey
There was a topic about this car at one time IIRC:
Modelmartin
I saw a stock unrestored one years ago at Minnesota Street Rod Association's Back tot he 50s show. It was in nice shape and very cool! I am sure there are more than ten around. Now we need to see if there are any stock Anglias around!
Craig Irwin
Now we need to see if there are any stock Anglias around! My brother bought one back when we were in high school. It had a 389 Pontiac and a hydro in it within a week.
Joe Handley
That is pretty cool . I'd have a hard time keeping it stock . I wouldn't, plenty of fiberglass clones out there to build from.

Was that still the same plant my XJ Cherokee was built in?
1930fordpickup
Was that still the same plant my XJ Cherokee was built in? I could have been. they had two plants close to each other. I do not know witch plant made what by the time your XJ was built. It was the longest manufacturing plant still in operation when they closed it down for the new plant a few years back. It stared out as a bicycle plant before Willys purchased it. Mr Willys lived down the street from my brothers current house. I little side note Mr Willys did not drive, so they say around here. bobthehobbyguy
I believe that same owner has one done up as a gasser. They were featured in street rod builder a few years ago.

That should have been the same plant then, up until that plant went off line, the only modern Jeep that hadn't been built there was the Grand Cherokee, which us still being built in Michigan. Jeep had two plants when your truck was built . They built your truck in both plants I am told. It was started in the old plant and finished in the Stickney road plant. The CJ5, CJ7 and the XJ were built in the oldest plant.
vypurr59
Was the Willys plant in Toledo Ohio? or what City? I kinda remember visiting it, when I was younger, along with the Delco/Packard Electrical plant. Edited April 15, 2014 by vypurr59

This says the same things I have heard over the years from people that I know that worked there.
Mike Chernecki
A few years ago, a friend picked up a Willys in similar condition, 100% original and unrestored. He has since sold it.
