  1. "All this happened the last time I parked here". Its a perfect build. Now you need a red Mercedes SL sitting next to it.............I have the real one sitting in my garage.
  2. Brilliant build! Always wanted to build one myself as well. His character was one of the reasons why I went back to college.......later becomimg a detective.
  3. Even as a scale model it's still a baby whale. LOL!
  4. Could be sitting in the TV shows "The Wonder Years" driveway. It's coming out awesome!
  5. It's the story that really makes our little parts of history come alive.
  6. Way better than my skills can do! Looks good.
  7. Thanks guys! So far it's coming out a lot better than I would have thought.
  8. I think there is one (non ambulance) that made a quick appearance in one of the Airport movies (think it was Airport '75) as a airline shuttle bus. I saw the wheels seemed WAY to tucked in. Thought it was the TV or something. But this is simply cool!
  9. So after 15 or so years of being in parts, I am finally restoring the vary first kit I got as a kid. My dad bought this one for me from a hobby shop (looooooong gone) and the hobby began. Over the years I resprayed it, added chrome foil, changed the interior color, etc. Dropped it into a vat of brake fluid for a few hours and all the crummy layers of Krylon paint vanished. This time I went with GM "Light Driftwood Metallic" with a chocolate brown interior and half top. The bumpers I had with the kit are for '78 but they are pretty beat up from being used as a childs toy, so are the wire wheel covers. So I used a nice clean set of '77 bumpers and '76 wheel covers from the Modelhaus.
  10. WOW! Getting better and better every time I come back to this thread.
  11. After all the years I have been on here kinda surprised I never made it on here. Born in the city, raised out Hoffman Estates, Cary, and Elgin. I now live back in Cary. My dad had a factory on the far south side and I would spend a lot of time there and my grandfather had his factory on Belmont. Both now long gone. I moved to Wyoming for school and down state for college, fell in love with the small town feel. I would like to move down south, really liked the people down there when I worked down on the Gulf. People were VARY easy going and it was weird to see not one 4x4 truck with a plow around Christmas time.
  12. I was 12 when the "Gone Fishin" set came out. I really wanted that Dodge Ram but I think it was right around $20 for the set compare to around $5 for a single kit. So a kid at my age, that was big bucks. For about a year I wanted that kit, waited til WalMart had a clearance and by that time they were all gone. Twentyish years later these kits seem to still have that "day late, dime" short with me. Nice write up!
  13. Rolling art! Used to see these all the time while at tech school (Wyo Tech) in the late '90s. It was all domestic trucks, a few small cars and then my '75 Lincoln in the parking lot. Brings back a lot of memories.
  14. I'm gona roll for "regular poop" for $500.........
  15. MMMMMMM, a build off, eh? I won a '61 drop top that was in process of getting restored but it was painted poop brown. Sad thing is, the finish is great but not at all right for the Conti. I was thinking red on red for my color combo.
  16. This is how mine turned out: Interior tub is out of a '74.
  17. I'm at a loss for words. Just awesome craftsmanship. In 1995 I was 15 years old, with my dad at his plant on the far south side of Chicago. We were coming home for the weekend back up to the NW burbs of Chicago. He pointed to a hobby shop near his office and said we should go in. I could not even tell you what the shop name was or even location but I remember it was well stocked. At that time AMT must have flooded the market with these kits, they seemed to be everywhere. So my dad bought me one of these (the issue you have). He died a year later. With this kit and a few others he bought me, they still sit unbuilt. I have been waiting until my skills would reach to that point where I gave them that level of quality I think they should be at. Reading this thread is just the bump I need. This site has shown me tips, tricks and advanced my skills light years. Now watching this as a step by step and giving the kit that extra level of detail, I think I can do this to. Thank you for sharing Bill!
