Mustang Madness Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Recently completed this one from Lindberg, It was one of the bargains I picked up at Ollies for $8 about a year ago. A very basic kit, all the parts needed trimming of flash and cleaning up so they would fit together. Paint is VHT ceramic hi-heat silver, wheels are from a AMT 72 Nova.
tbill Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 good looking build. i got a couple of these during that 'sale' as well, glad to see they can turn into a good looking model, well done.

Mustang Madness Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Looks great ! Nice work . Great color. Nicely done. Thanks! I really didn't have very high expectations at the start of this build, just looking at the box art was nearly enough to make me put it back on the shelf but I thought "i'll just knock it out and see what happens"
Monty Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Congrats on finding a bargain and getting it to turn out so well. Your paint and wheel choices really complement the car and the stance seems perfect.I'd wager that most of us aren't familiar with that kit, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious what the engine and chassis look like. If you have the time, would you mind posting up a few more pics for us?

I will take a couple pics of what you asked for a little later tonight after dinner.

tbill Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 not all lindberg kits are like that, the 66 chevelle is pretty good, as is the 53 ford kit.
Mustang Madness Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 not all lindberg kits are like that, the 66 chevelle is pretty good, as is the 53 ford kit.Ok, I just googled the 66 Chevelle and many of the builds I got in the search do look pretty good. So I wonder why this kit is a dog?
tbill Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 not sure, they seem to be hit and miss quality/looks wise for some reason.
Dann Tier Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The 66 Cutlass W30 is a really nice one too!!
Mustang Madness Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Nicely done! Very attractive model. Thanks Harry, I appreciate the kind comment.
Kenny B Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Nicely done. The box art would make be put it back on the shelf.
oldcarfan Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I'm pretty sure this Mustang kit started off as a Palmer offering back in the day. I think the Challenger kit that Lindberg put out a while ago was one of Palmer's old molds too. Palmer's kits were more miss and miss than hit and miss, quality-wise.The Chevelle and the 53 Ford were later from Lindberg's renaissance a few years back. Much better kits.

Much better kits.Yes, the Challenger, Mustang and Corvette kits were all originally Palmers, the only kits Palmer did in 1/25th I believe. The Challenger was the best of the 3, the Mustang suffers from having a roof that looks more like a '69-70 than a '71-73, among other issues.

ERIK88 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 wow you have a pretty nice build. This is one of those kits ive always deferred from buying because of the ugly box art. You've proven it can be built to look nice

You've proven it can be built to look nice Cheers Erik, if it wasn't being sold for $8 when I picked it up I would never have bought it .. like you said because of the ugly box art. If folks can see that it can actually look alright, then that's a good thing. Edited November 30, 2015 by Mustang Madness
