Mercuryman54 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I built this Mach1 using the original issue (1970 annual) AMT kit body, grille, bumpers and simulated mag wheel covers. The frame, drivetrain and interior came from the Revell 1969 Mustang Super Cobra Jet kit. Painted with 1970 Ford code red paint. Fred Cady decals. It took quite a bit of fitting and shaving between the old and the new. Enjoy and thanks for looking. And for Harry all the Mustangs I have posted have the mirrors pinned as they are fragile to attach otherwise.
vamach1 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Very nice job combining the best of two different kits.
donb Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Love mustangs and you did this one real nice. Beautiful done
Geno Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Another nice one Dennis, I to learned the hard way, always pin the mirrors LOL. Mustangs are great and you did every one of these builds justice. I commend you.

Lovefordgalaxie Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Very nice, always loved this color, and the car, of course.
DustyMojave Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Since Revell and Monogram got the front ends so wrong on their '69 and '70 Mustangs, and AMT and MPC did so much better (but still got the grilles wrong); but AMT and MPC got the chassis and engine compartment so wrong, it's good that you used the Revell chassis and the AMT body shell. It makes the model come out much better that way.
Mercuryman54 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 I bought the AMT kit when it was new. I was around 13 years old, I'm 60 now. Some how it survived. Multiple layers of paint and not getting the firecracker and fireball treatment!! Ha Ha. My original 1969 AMT Mustang did not !!

Modelbuilder Mark Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 This is very nicely done,. Only of my childhood favorite body styles.
webestang Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Love mustangs and you did this one real nice. Beautiful done Agree on both points...........!!!!
geetee66 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Looks ready to hit the highway!Top build. I like the subtle underhood weathering.
Maindrian Pace Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Great project, nothing beats the original AMT body for correctness (and rarity) and the combination of that and the better chassis and drivetrain really comes together well.

DumpyDan Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Looks real good Dennis couple of the shots could cause someone to question weather it is real or not. Just drill out the Exhaust tips.
