Gabriel Leidentz Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Hello everyone. I always save references from other modellers. I've even saved some links to Fotki from some forum members. Would anyone like to make other links available for more references?
stitchdup Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Some of my albums have a little scratching in them, the 37 linciln one probably has the most but I'm not at the level of the other folks on here https://www.flickr.com/photos/111449995@N04/albums
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Here's a couple of threads with a little scratchin' going on...
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 And here's one that's REALLY impressive...
dodgefever Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Zeger does some amazing work. https://modelbrouwers.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=49561 https://modelbrouwers.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=47435 https://modelbrouwers.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=48864
Gabriel Leidentz Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 Many thanks to all for the links.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I hope more folks chime in. There's a guy who did some really stunning work using a programmable cutter that cut precise shapes from sheet styrene, and another member here, comp1839, does spectacular work in larger scales, like this...

OldNYJim Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 This is a great thread too - beautiful work!
OldNYJim Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 And some more of Eric Ritz's gorgeous work:
OldNYJim Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 In an effort to resurrect this thread (I'd LOVE to see more amazing scratchbuilding-and-super-detailing-heavy threads like the ones above) here's another killer one from Mr Impalow - check that amazing bike out!!!
OldNYJim Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 And another amazing builder - any of Mark's build threads are incredibly impressive and inspiring...like this one!
Bugatti Fan Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 A couple of the best scratch building references that I can think of are the two books by the late Gerald A Wingrove. The Complete Car Modeller 1 and 2.

While I’m no longer at the cutting edge of modeling personally, I admire the work of those who are! I love seeing what shows up at GSL. My own appreciation for this has increased over the years. As a fairly new modeler I met Angie Hiscano at a show. He had one of his cars with the totally brass hammered body, and next to it was the kit plastic body for comparison. I didn’t understand why he did this work, when he had a perfectly usable plastic body! Now I get it! ?

Bugatti Fan Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Force, I think that you need to look at the Wingrove Workshop website. It is still up to show this late master craftsman's work. Zeger's work is very, very good, but I think that you will be more impressed by Gerald Wingrove's scratch builds.
Force Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 They are nice too. Zeger's stuff is made from mostly plastic stock and in 1:24th scale tho'
charlie libby Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 i love to scratch build .engines and wheels are my favorite.this is 1/8 scale.made every thing on the engine except the webbers, but i did make the screens.

Yes photos are great, there are times when a little added explanation/information could be of benefit. There are some fantastic build threads around, I prefer the ones where the OP shares more about how they did it/got there. (Show your work) was a saying back in my school days?sometimes words are equally important.
