Sam I Am
Here is what I will be attempting to build. Have not touched a model in over a year.

DRIPTROIT 71
When I was a kid I never liked these cabs, now they're one of my favorites! Looking forward to seeing more! Welcome to the Build Off!
Sam I Am
It seems that I start with the oddball trucks. The first one I built was the Bison. So I will have a small fleet of Chevies. :-) So after inspecting all the parts, I found that I had to download the missing instructions. Then I found that the basic frame assembly that I tore down had been assembled incorrectly along with a missing rear crossmember... My goal with this build is oob...and finish it. Yesterday and today found the frame all sorted, and a modified rear crossmember cut down from something found in the parts box. Edit: Having problems with the pics for some reason. Rusty92
Now there is a Semi I have not seen in years. Beautiful truck.
stitchdup
Neat looking truck, are these chevy trucks smaller than kenworths etc? I dont think I've even seen pics of real ones
Jim B
Leslie, Define what you mean by "smaller"? The Chevrolet Titan/90 & the GMC Astro/95 (essentially the same truck) are Class 8 trucks, and are comparable in abilities with the Kenworth K100 or Peterbilt 352, just a lot less expensive. Here is a photo (be it not a very good one) of my Titan, Astro, & Cruiseliner sitting next to each other.
Sam I Am
Nice lineup Jim! This is my first cab over, so I do not have anything to compare it to. Chassis is ready for primer as well as the engine. I do not know if I am making progress or just a big mess. lol
Jim B
Thanks, Sam. Your workbench might look like a bit of a disaster area right now, but you've made good progress on the frame & engine. Any plans on a color scheme?
Sam I Am
Thanks Jim, the bench is small so it gets cluttered easy....but at least I am back at it. I am planning on a satin black chassis, and a GM color, Bright Aqua for the cab and wheel centers.
trick my mixer
That looks like my work bench..It seems like I end up working in a very small area when I have 4x8 table top. But I am having fun. Keep up the good work on the Titan 90.
tbill
Making good progress on this . A mess is a good thing, means you’re at the bench, and really, that’s all that matters
Sam I Am
Okay, here is the basic rolling chassis. It even sits square. Woo hoo! Edited February 7, 2019 by Sam I Am
Rusty92
The workbench photo looks exactly like mine whenever I build a semi... You're not alone! I like the wheel color choice and it is all looking good so far.
Jim B
Square for an AMT frame is not an easy feat sometimes. Looks nice. That Detroit Diesel sure is green.
tbill
man, I am liking that wheel color! Now, slow down, you’re making some of us look bad, haha, keep at it, looking good

baloney
Your workbench is a lot like mine. lots of space but only working in a tight area like 12x12! or less. as i can see your doing really good so far. even after a year of not not building .. you see, it's all coming back. hope your having fun building it, and looking at your work once you've completed some steps. it's all satisfying work. Sam I Am
Getting more fiddly bits sorted, painted, and attached. One question for those who have built this kit with the single exhaust. Can you please post a pic here of how the air intake/exhaust stacks mount up. The instructions are a little vague and I may even be missing a part... Jim B
Here is a copy from the original instructions showing the single exhaust: When I built mine, I used dual exhausts.
