Michael jones Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 (edited) Hi guys, I thought I would share with you, the E7 paints chrome sealer which I have brush painted over Molotow Chrome. See photos below. If you look closely, you can just faintly see a horizontal line (just above my hand) in the photo. The lower half is clear coated with E7 chrome sealer and the top half is not clear coated. I would say it has retained 90% of the reflection. It actually got clearer as it dried. Started out a little milky. The stuff is relatively cheap to buy on ebay, around $8US for 20ml. Regards Mike Edited July 20, 2019 by Michael jones
GeeBee Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Good to know there's something out there that you can use on Molotow liquid chrome without dulling the finish, thank you for sharing.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Thanks for the tip. Did you find that it helped seal it as well?
Michael jones Posted July 20, 2019 Author Posted July 20, 2019 Yep the chrome does not rub off with the sealer laid down :). To be honest it looks much better than in the photo.
Roncla Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 That sounds like just the ticket and with free international shipping it's worth trying out for sure. I've just ordered some.
porschercr Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 (edited) Looks good. Spaz Stix Ultimate Chrome as well as the Clear coat, works well too. Edited July 22, 2019 by porschercr added text
ChrisBcritter Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Sold. Will report back when it gets here next month. Mike, a few questions: How long did it take to dry? Did you airbrush the Molotow on the spoon? And how long did you let the Molotow cure before you clear-coated it? Thanks for the tip!
Michael jones Posted July 23, 2019 Author Posted July 23, 2019 Gidday, I left the sealer overnight to dry before I touched it. Yes the spoon was airbrushed, and the spoon had been painted chrome a long time ago so unsure how long you have to wait till sealer application. Mike

Len Woodruff Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Yes thanks for the info. I tried Spaz-Stick Ultimate Clear over Molotow but it seems to loose 15-20% of the chrome look.
ChrisBcritter Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I see E7-Color has a paint called "Shine Chrome" - anyone tried that? Is that what the sealer was intended for? 1

ChrisBcritter Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 The order arrived today. I had a piece of scrap plastic that had some dried Molotow from starting the pen; a few days ago I brushed some SpazStix Aqua Clear over part of it and today brushed the S-02 on the other part. The S-02 does seem to work a bit better. On 7/24/2019 at 10:44 PM, SfanGoch said: You can also get it from USA Gundam Store, in Daytona Beach, for $5.49. The store's site lists it as currently sold out.
Jellybit Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 It's been sold out everywhere, including ebay, for almost a year now. Does anyone know of any good alternatives? I'm sad this disappeared from the face of the earth as soon as it was discovered to work well.
Chris Smith Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I know this an old thread, I was curious on what air pressure you used and also what you used for cleanup? I just got this sealer to try and not very good directions for using and been trying to finish this project. Any help would be greatly appreciated Chris
Michael jones Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 I don't have it in front of me right now, but pretty sure its water clean up. Probably a good idea to run some isopropyl alcohol through after. Usually I have just painted it on with a brush but I think I may have sprayed it once or twice. Pretty sure its sprays fine around 10-15psi. Let us know what works for you.
Tommy124 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Sounds great, but it doesn't seem to be available for purchase anywhere, so... I am using some stuff called "Intermediate Gauzy Agent" by AK Interactive over Molotow. It's supposed to be a "shine enhancer" over metallics, but let's face it, nothing additional will ever enhance the shine of a good chrome effect paint. But I am looking at it as a good compromise. It takes maybe 10% of the shine away but it seals the chromed parts in such a way so they can be handled properly. And it still looks good IMHO. I used it over the Molotow on ALL the chrome parts on my '62 Corvette.
SfanGoch Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Yeah, well....nothing will be found if only a superficial internet search is conducted. Here's plenty of Gaia S-02 Chrome Sealer available on ebay: e7 s-02 chrome sealer
Michael jones Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Id say Intermediate Gauzy Agent" by AK Interactive is very similar at a guess to E7 paints chrome sealer. You can contact E7 paints direct if required.
Chris Smith Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I sprayed the wings on a Tamiya 312T in Molotow. I really like the finish just would like a sealer that will allow me to handle the parts without ruining the finish. I saw this thread during a search. I ordered it off of eBay. e7 website is as vague as the directions for use. I am sure the paint line works great. But I assumed the sealer was not water based. Just trying to safe and not ruin #1 the parts and #2 my airbrush. thank you all for the feedback Chris
