DonW Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 And it looks great. I never knew this concept car existed so thanks for the education!
vamach1 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I guess I missed this post as I knew what it was immediately. It's one of two concepts I wish there was a 1/24 model made. There is the Milano and this Mach2 in 1/43 diecast for about $100 and most of us know IMC/Lindberg did the Mustang II concept in 1/25 and AMT did the 68 Mach1 concept kit also which is a holy grail kit for many Mustang builders/collectors. I would like to see the Mach1 done in 1/43 to round out my collection in that scale. If you would like to see pictures of any or all of these I mentioned please comment.
Richard Bartrop Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I could go for a Mach 2 model as well. As I recall, it didn't get a lot of press when it was new. I remember it most from the service station industry magazine, my dad got when he was still in the business.
Jantrix Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I read the article and the last line made me laugh.
DonW Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Mid engined cars? Nah. Ford did good not to persevere. '"Take the cylinders out of my kidneys The connecting rod out of my brain, my brain From the small of my back get the crankshaft And assemble the engine again" Best not to turn your back on the engine!

Expand Well they didn't do the Mustang but they have done a number of GT40. I love mid engine cars. I drove my 93 MR2 Turbo for almost 20 years and loved it. Fast, agile and I didn't have to ever haul around a bunch of kids in the back seat and no one ever asked me to help them move with it. ?

Expand Fair comment! Also the GT70, thought that was a lot less successful. And the handling benefits generally speak for themselves. Just call me old-fashioned!
Hotrod 97 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 This is one of my favorite Concept Cars. I can’t help but to wonder what the Mustang would be today if Ford did go through with the mid-engined Mach II...

Expand Not being sarcastic, but I think it would probably the GT-40; at least I can see some similar design elements in this one.
