nyguy Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Don't want to say this kit is "finicky". Just be prepared. The kit doesn't have the "H" , "E", double hockey sticks in the name for nothing.
Bainford Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Always been curious about this kit. I’m watching.

charlie8575 Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 I have one of these. Someday, I'll have the gumption to try it. I'll watch yours first. Charlie Larkin 1 1

landman Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 There was a big discussion this morning about whether to wire and plumb the engine or not. We should know more in the days to come. 2

Pierre Rivard Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Happy you are taking on this kit. It's one of those on my wish list but I read it was a challenging build.
Bugatti Fan Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Some of the Heller car kits are a bit shall we say, challenging. On their Delage kit there is a join that has to be made right across the top of each rear wing. Cannot understand why they tooled it up in such a fashion. Weird! It will take a very experienced modeller to be able to fill and smooth it so that it will disappear when primed and sprayed. Hope this Delahaye kit is a bit more straight forward to build as it is a very nicely styled car.
Kenmojr Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 (edited) I've always loved the French Delahaye cars, the closes to a kit I have is a 1/18 diecast 1947 Delahaye which I treasure very much. Edited March 22, 2023 by Kenmojr

stavanzer Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 I too, Have this kit. I am watching as well. Seems like this kit is sitting on a lot of shelves, but seldom gets built. Can't wait to see where this build goes. 1

Anglia105E Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 As you are already aware Pat, this Delahaye 135 kit is not an easy one to put together, but I would say that it is well worth the effort to complete the build. There are so many paint colour combinations that suit this car, and I dare say you are probably leaning towards one in particular? These 1:24 scale Heller kits are not like any of the big Japanese manufacturers, as regards their assembly procedure, but the subject matter does offer us choices that we can't find elsewhere. My favourite would be the Talbot Lago Record Cabriolet, and I do have both the Delahaye and the Talbot in my collection. Both model cars were a ' challenge ' and also truly rewarding . . . Enjoy your build ! David 3

Now that it's all dolled up do I put it in the car or on theshelf? Hope it is up to your standards.? 1 1

landman Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 I was thinking of perhaps, maybe, sort of do a spoon job and make some bubble skirts for the rear wheel openings. 4
