They probably realized how much extra plastic was needed to make LInda and cancelled it! LOL! And that guy is not Shumacher, but he is lucky to be in such nice company!

Who is/was Supershoe? I've never heard of him.
Vince Nemanic Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Don Shoemacher had the nickname "supershoe". His early cars were called "Stardust" and he also drove the Wonder Wagon cars, to name a few. Currently a team owner.
Mark Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Pretty sure he, or his family, started the Schumacher battery charger company. He didn't drive or run the team for all of the Wonderwagon cars, but took the program over when the original guys weren't getting results.

unclescott58 Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I was never a big drag racing fan, other than of Jungle Jim. But, him using a Camaro that I got as a model as a gift. And later finding out about Jungle Pam. There little question why I know about him. There are others I knew/know of too. And I slight remember his Wonder Wagon above. But, he himself? I had never heard of him.

They were called Stardust because the Las Vegas casino by that name was a sponsor of his. It is pretty interesting, his mom and dad were bookies in Chicago and had connections with the casino. This article does not mention it but I read that one of his clients owed him money and that is how he became a partner in the battery charger business https://www.autoweek.com/racing/nhra/a2147006/racing-legend-don-schumacher-still-driven-dominate-improve-nhra/

ChrisBcritter Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Grabbed one the first chance I got, and I'm glad I did. I'm surprised no more have been produced in the past 20-some years. Biggest difference between original and repro is the vacuformed glass with closed side windows.
MJStyline Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Well this one slipped off my radar- so begins the search...

I would bet the modern AMT '60 and Revell '65/'66 have filled most of the demand for that generation of Chevy pickup, despite the promo's unique longbed. horsepower Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Didn't the Lindberg 1/8th scale competition dragster coupe make it into production in the late '90s early 2000s as a front engined dragster with a Fiat Topolino. Coupe body. Unless it was originally meant to have a different body.

Mark Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 The Fiat was 1/12 scale, fairly decent body, so-so engine, chassis was shared with a futuristic bubble top show rod and not related to anything that ever saw a drag strip. Guys who like 1/12 scale stuff will buy built ones and part them out, and build more realistic drag cars using Monogram 1/12 scale kit engines and other parts.

Perhaps it's just as well it died when it did. That Poor man's Porche couldn't compete with a Mustang or needed more than a Nova as a family car. About as wanted as a mini Cooper US spec in 1969.
