Russell C Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I want a 3-D printed Buckaroo Banzai Jet Car.
Joe Handley Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Wouldn't 3D printing allow for hollow exhaust pipes without having to fabricate them from styrene or aluminum?
Deano Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I want a 3-D printed Buckaroo Banzai Jet Car. Wish he'd offer that one for sale!

kennb Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 you can print a totally working motor in 1/24th scale if you have the right drawings....................
crazyjim Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 A 3D printer is going up to the space station so they can make parts on site.
Joe Handley Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 A 3D printer is going up to the space station so they can make parts on site. Not surprised, there was something I saw few years back that they were talking about doing that as the tech improved tothe point it could be used to make things like wrenches.
Mooneyzs Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 This was very cool. Thank you for sharing. I would love to have a 3D printer some day.
PappyD340 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Amazing stuff indeed, funny thing about it is a lot of today's technology is actually stuff most of us older guys read about in science fiction years ago and has now become reality! Just too KOOL!!!
Erik Smith Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Click2detail.com Finescale modeler had a short article about the company in the October issue.
samurai7 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I would love to get some 3D printed figures in 1/8, 1/24, 1/12...to go with my cars....the possibilities would be endless
Shardik Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Check out Industria Mechanica. He offers resin figures molded from 3D printed masters.
7000in5th Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I did this 3D printed sign at Shapeways for my outdoor 1:24 scale garden railroad:
robiwon Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) Not model car related, but I have parts coming that were 3D printed to turn a certain airsoft gun into everyone's favorite cyborg cops weapon of choice. Edited October 6, 2013 by robiwon
Greg Wann Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/would-you-download-a-car-man-3d-prints-lifesize-aston-martin-db4-8744159.html Here is a guy 3D printing a car body.
JohnU Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Got a Travers Tool Co. catalogue the other day. They are selling a 3D printer by Afinia that is accurate to 0.15mm (.006 in.). Not sure if this is close enough for 1/25 scale but larger scale might do the trick with a little finishing work. The price seems within reason at $1599.00. You could probably spend more outfitting a mini machine shop!
Mooneyzs Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Greg.... that is awesome with the car body. Totall cool.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Not cost-effective (at $50k) for the home-modeler unless you just won the lottery, but here's a machine developed specifically for making wax patterns. Perfect for prototyping directly to molds or tooling. http://www.deskeng.com/articles/aabmmz.htm
