nice work, not only is that engine well detailed...it appears technically correct down to the heating tube for the automatic choke assembly. I do have a have a question about the black wire that seems to be attached to the starter. In my experience with full size cars a ground wire was not usually attached at the starter motor, however a small bundler of one or two wires usually were connected to the starter solenoid (smaller cylinder on top of the starter motor on GM products) along with the larger cable coming from the positive side of the battery. The actual starter motor is fed power by a robust strap that is also attached to the solenoid. not that you need to change anything.

The Ranchero is a '59 The T-bird is most likely a '60 ( based on the 6 tail lights rather than 4) sorry, no clue on the makers.

Looking at the first photo, I also picked it as an air compressor but I would like to suggest that Art's suggestion that it would run rough may be mistaken (and I know this from first hand knowledge based on the following). My father converted a Y-block 272 (in an early Ford PU) into a V-4 by removing four pistons/rods, covering the oil journals to ensure proper oil flow and changing the carb so the engine didn't get overfed. I drove it once or twice for many miles...it was very slow to get moving and it sounded a bit like a model-T but it got great gas mileage. and it idled and ran smooth. They may have increased the weight o the flywheel in the flat-head driven compressors to smooth out the power pulses but I bet it ran smooth.

don't get me wrong on this...I like the engineering part of it... I was thinking that if there were more than one distributor that setting the timing would be a bit of a pain and could damage the engine...but since it's only plastic I let that go.

if it's gonna be mythical then it doesn't need a distributor... or an alternator bracket.

the problem with Palmer kits is that the end up looking exactly like the box art, weird perspective and all.

I think if you're going to use a single distributor (which I personally prefer but would have problems with plug wire length and some associated timing issues) that the cap would be enormous if also used with large plug gap and high energy ignition coils. There's a reason the GM HEI caps are almost twice the size of regular point/breaker type ignition hardware. Individual (or dual) coil packs would be best for a new engine development with port injection. If you go this route, remember to mount a throttle position sensor and oxygen sensor otherwise your engine management computer will never go open loop (or is that closed loop, it's been so long...)

a thing of beauty! at this point I can't think of a better use for those particular wheels. I bet there are even more builders that are wishing you would have this cast in resin...
