  1. Excellent choice of donor plastic! If I did Faceborg I would "like" this WIP.
  2. hrm, a fascinating response from Art, I really like these kinds of tidbits even if they are closer to a mound than a tidbit.

    Artwork

Nice to see another paintshop pro user, I think it's highly under rated.

    What if...?

thanx, I figured you'd know what to do.

    What if...?

I haven't figured out a good way to change the color on that part of my paste to the blue of the rest of the wagon.

    What if...?

how about a Riviera GS Sportwagon?
  7. speaking as a person who has been intimate with a real Firebird 400 (I saved mine from a salvage yard for $200 but it was in pieces at the time) I can say well done also. there are pics of my bird in the readers rides thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55870&page=16#entry754751
  8. I concur.
  9. hrm... that hasn't come in my mail yet, bummer.
  10. I seem to remember an old barris custom that had windscreens like this concept and I think AMT kitted it, someone may still have them laying around with no use... I think it's a great use for a mediocre kit.
  11. it's interesting to see someone else start on a concept/design that is also in a folder I keep on my computer desktop to stash build ideas, this will be fun for me to watch being executed. Gary's speedster concept art looks like some fun builds.<br /><br />I had planned for a build of this but I would have started with a '66 GTO/lemans instead of a '67 GTO, the '66 LeMans taillights seem to be unique to that year pontiac, I've never seen them on any other GM vehicle.<br /><br />I would think the windscreens will be more of a problem than the "roadster humps".
  12. I have the november issue... what is on the cover of the december issue?
  13. is there supposed to be december issue?
  14. Anyone that has the time should go browse the "golden years" of car modeling at modelencyclopedia (google it). Most (if not all) the rants/raves and even praise that we do here now has all been done at least fifty years ago but unlike now there was no internet and stock analysts didn't have the power to kill a company virtually overnight. I bet most here don't know that the Dodge Deora was "Named" in a national write-in contest or that the Orange Hauler was a grand prize in a sweepstakes. Model car makers are not likely to be driven by the passion about models that we have (personally) because they "have to be profitable", there may be one or two exceptions but I think you'll find that not one of the companies is doing it to "break even". There are no budgets to sponsor nationwide contests where you can win an actual car just for entering the best model in that particular contest (even if you're not old enough to drive yet). At this time it looks like the closest thing to a national contest is being sponsored by Revell and Gearz, I hope they succeed in generating a resurgence in model building because the hobby shops which previously ran/sponsored model contests have all but disappeared seemingly due to lack of support from the builders (us) and rising costs of stocking their shelves and business expenses. Most model contests are now run/sponsored by clubs and most hobby shops still existing don't seem to have the time/manpower or money left to get back into public visibility. My respects go out to any car function that sponsors or allows a model contest to be run during their events, the internet is a great place to display your personal masterpieces I feel it is the local contests which should receive as much focus/help as we can give. I have a personal goal for 2013 of getting back into local model club and assisting with contests if I am allowed. I may have wandered off the original topic, you may all now dissect my post as you will.
  15. we need someone to post a new Michaels 50% off coupon that is good for six months. hint, hint ...
  16. I commend your excellent use of ellipsis. I await with anticipation your use of the tilde.
  17. it IS rather bruitishly handsome, nice meld of Fords.
  18. A question to ask is: are these megabuck PE users that don't exhibit the basic skills winning anything over better skilled builders? I was once part of a judging team that moved a kick-arse model from 1st to second place because his driveshaft was missing and the next best model had made sure his basics were covered. The original poster could be told to encourage the object of his derision that he may place better in contests if he executes the basics better in addition to proper addition of aftermarket parts.
  19. 1/8 tires/wheels from the land of RC http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_83_2677_87/products_id/232724/n/Contact-RC-1-8-On-Road-Front-Tires-Lightweight-Transparent-2-40-Shore just showing options ...

    What if...?

maybe Harry could try that trick with a modified 67/68 Firebird front bumper/grille assembly.
  22. oh, the English are just silly, the U.S.-Roll Bar should be a U.K.- Anti Crush Bar, because I've never seen any anti rollover bars except on bicycles, they look a lot like "training wheels" ... which I'm sure the U.K. have a totally different name for. (and don't try to tell me they call them "trainers" because I already know that U.S. - Tennis Shoes = U.K. - Trainers)
  23. I've always wondered why anyone would name their poo "Winnie"...
  24. if you can't find the info you're looking for in this forum try browsing through the magazine section here: http://www.modelencyclopedia.com/magazines.php there are several issues that cover body/chassis modifications and detail work in addition to mention of a really young Tim Boyd.
  25. Hmmm, may be copyright issues with that request.
