  1. here is how I made the windows and the finished product remember this car was built from scraps
  2. let me know the info - I can do it
  3. I got a hood yesterday, I made my own windows , I used masking tape to trace the outline and then placed the tape on a clear plastic like diecast cars are packaged in and cut them out - you never know the difference , Ill post pix later
  4. here is the progress so far, what you will see is the relocation of fuel filler, this involved drilling and cutting up an old jeff gordon body my brother gave me-he thought i could make a petty racer out of it but it was a lumina with a damaged roof so cutting was the option. I filled the other side with heated plastic, used flat balck primer and painted, now all i lack to finish this car is finding a hood and windows - I have a hood on the way but i dont think i have windows comming - can anybody help me with this?
  5. i did not do that because one of the side glasses had a crack - i was scared i would do more damage
  6. I remember this story - you did a gr8 job recreating it
  7. Not much to work with here, just a free body a tbird chassis i already had assembled , a new decal sheet and some donated parts that will be on the way soon. The goal is to make a 1996 Watkins Glen Car, I will be relocating the fuel inlet to represent the roadcourse setup- there is a donated body on the way for that. I am surprised the body fit over the old Davey Allison Chassis. That makes part of the build complete. Maybe no one will notice the ford engine under the hood . wish me luck
  8. my pole question Is the repaint an improvement over the original racing champions scheme?
  9. Always looking something to do. In my quest to represent every year of the petty car I took on a project to create the 1992 fan appeciation tour car that actualy looks like a fan appreciation tour car. Racing champions issued a 1992 paint schemed pontiac but it was so wrong. I found an old one that had been repainted and was looking very ugly so i decided a resto was nesseary. The pix below show the work i will have a poll for this topic. hope you enjoy originally this is what this car would have looked like, ok but wrong markings for front facia, small stp on quarters , richard's name is on the roof and the colors are all wrong this is what i had to work with a 25 cent yard sale find some sanding and disassembly fresh paint this is the finished product
  10. I thought I built them fast in taking a couple or three days gr8 job
  11. man that looks gr8
  12. already doing that LOL I dont think the 429 was ment for this kit - it does not fit at all- just shoved in and glued wherever it hit
  13. I have some white stripes from a previous petty decal kit so i am going to cut them down with a sheet cutter and wetside them in place piece by piece.
  14. dont know - pinstripes are too thick- paint requires such a steady hand.
  15. thanks guys
  16. the whole build is in the workbench
  17. Thsi pix will show the chassis, engine and finished product- will probably do another to represent 74-77 paint scheme.
  18. I have started on mine , I am working with a very snug test fit right now , before building the running gear and roll cage
  19. The orange is floresant marking paint sprayed over walmarts flat white- the blue on the chassis and wheels is global blue put out by kylon also available at wallmart, the rest was cleared with midwax high gloss polyeurathane
  20. these pix show the assembly of the front and rear suspension, some of the interior and a test fit of the body.
  21. today- windows and paint windows have been glued in using ordinary elmers school craft glue - this keeps them from hazing all of my parts to be painted have been washed and are set out ready to paint, I will spray paint them carfully while leaving them on the sprues. I just pick out the parts i want to paint. this ahs taken many years of practice but some how i get the color on the part i want w/o having to paint all of the other items the same color, i do this w/o tape. contrary to the instructions the engine should not be orange - this is a dodge thing , petty cars had petty blue engines so my engine is blue. my parts are painted based on what colors i have in my arsennal , not according to the instructions.
  22. I spoke to kevin on the phone yesterday, he wanted me to let you guys know why he hasn't been on the forum lately. He has a back problem that has kept him in bed . He is going to the doctor about it next week. Keep him in your thoughts Thanks.
  23. It has been kinda icy around here, currently I am continuing to work on the body - it is too cold to paint parts for roll cage assembly. pictures below are the kit with 2 more coats of clear for a final shine, you will notice I added some of the chrome parts, spoiler, and painted the window trim. I raided my wifes cross stich stash to make cables for the hood/trunk pins and fuel cap. After which a smal black line was painted to simulate the tape keeping the pins in place. Around the rear quarter window , I brushed it some aluminum silver to make the look of the bare metal that is usually on this car.
  24. Thanks - you have allways gave me good comments about my builds
