2014 Revell 2nd Quarter Kit Announcements
'70 Grande replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Haven't heard or read much about these 2nd quarter kits and when they'll be hitting the store shelves lately; anybody know when we might start to see these available for purchase? I'm wanting to get my hands on one of those little Datsun 510's quickly; I loved that kit! -
I certainly agree here! I'm certain that as Moebius continues to produce new kits of the cars that us "older" model builders want, their kit-requests list will just grow and grow and grow...

Craig Clements "Head Hunter" : new project 4/16/14
'70 Grande replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
John, Wow, this looks like an awesome project; I'll be watching your build closely! What can you tell us about the 1:1? When was it built? What's that monster engine inside of it? Was it created based on other customs of the era? -
Wow! That's all I gotta say about this build... WOW!

1951 Chevrolet Fleetline - Custom - W.I.P.

I'll be watching this project as it progresses. My thinking would be use the Sombrero caps; they seem perfect to me to go along with your Desoto grill; flashy chrome with some nice, "projecting-dimensions" to it! -
Really like this build! Tell us some more about it. Did you have to reposition those rear wheel openings on the Rat Packer body to get them closer to a stock position, (even tho they're opened-up so large)? What did you use for your chassis underneath? Did you scratchbuild the rollcage? Where'd that engine come from? Great, great build; I love the subject-matter!
-
I really like this build! Lennie's Pepsi paint scheme looks excellent on the Monte Carlo notchback body; I might like it even better than how it looked on Lennie's original mid-1970's Chevys!
-
Excellent rebuild! Your paint and decal work look excellent! I'm really looking forward to the upcoming reissue of this kit; haven't built one of these since the mid-1970's. It'll be good to take another crack at it!
-
Wow! Love this subject-matter and this build! I'll be watching you finish this one up; it looks terrific so far!
-
Love your Cougar Spoiler! I really like factory-phantoms, and your idea and build-execution on this Cougar is excellent! Your build of the Cyclone Spoiler is excellent as well. (Sure would like to see that vintage kit get reissued again, but I doubt that will ever happen).
-
Kit comes with both front-suspension set-ups, (raised leaf-springs with straight front axle for building a gasser and factory-stock front suspension).
-
This is a great-looking 1:1 car! I'm in the middle of a project converting a 1/25 Johan Maverick into a "factory-phantom", 1970 Maverick Boss-302. Using the same AMT/Ertl '67 Mustang chassis underneath it, with the Boss-302 engine from the AMT/Ertl '69 Cougar Eliminator kit. I'll be adjusting Boss-302 Mustang stripe decals to fit the Maverick body. I have a 1:1 article where a guy did this conversion in 1:1, it looked like a awesome car, so I had to build my own.

Kit ID help please

Yes, its worth the time and effort for a good "rebuild" in my opinion! And yes, it's the 1/25 Johan '64 Polara, and in my opinion, probably worth about $20 in this condition on that large auction site. These Johan kits were always very well executed when it comes to the body proportions, emblems and detailing. It needs some work, but definitely worth the efforts; go for it! -
Nice build! Your paint work is outstanding! Post a pic of its backside; I'd like to see what it looks like from the rear!

I'm hoping these 2015 Mustang "Free Kit" efforts by Ford and Revell bring thousands of young children into an interest in model cars; and they can leave their electronic devices behind for once and maybe become life-long car modelers! Okay, I'll get a little more realistic now, but even if only a few kids become interested in car models, we're all just a little bit better off! -

I'm with you, Rob. Would love to see a release of that vintage Trans-Am Cuda! -
Excellent build and story! I'll be looking forward to your next build as my first car back in high school was a '68 VW bug!
-
Beautiful build! Excellent paint and decal work! I wonder where Tim Richmond's racing career would have went if he had lived longer.

I'm still wondering if anybody can answer these simple questions: 1). Are the front doors and rear delivery doors all molded closed on the body, and the builder expected to scribe/cut through the door seams to open-up all of those doors? 2). Is the dropped, leaf-spring front axle included inside this kit? (it seems to me that these "gasser" front suspension pieces were not included inside this kit when it was reissued about 5 years ago as more of a "street-machine" kit). 3). Are the bumpers, grill and tail-lights all still molded in Chrome? Thanks!

Did you do any adjustments to get your tilting-hood/front-end piece to line-up so well with the body? I thought the line-up of the hood/front-end and body pieces was considered the biggest challenge when building this kit, so I'm always looking for advice on how to improve the fit there.

MarkJ, A beautiful build of a not-often-seen subject! Your additional detailing, paint and decal work are outstanding! Can you give a short explanation as to how you "tucked-in" that rear bumper? Was it just a matter of trimming away some of the plastic at the very rear of the rear fenders? Oh... some engine bay and chassis photos would be great to see as well!
-
I always thought that this kit was a reissue, (by AMT/Ertl), of an MPC kit; that AMT never did produce their own Nova kit of this mid-1970's era.
-
I wonder if that '53 Chevy Panel truck/gasser will have fewer Chrome plated parts than the original kit had, (looks like the bumpers, tail-lights and grill might be unplated instead of Chrome-plated in this upcoming reissue).
