  1. Chuck, I'll be interested in what you find regarding those BRE Datsun 510 tires. I wasn't aware that they had come from '90's Revell lowrider kits; (not my forte). The flared-fenders on that Scirocco seem quite wide, so I'm thinking they might still fit under them for a racing Scirroco. Just hope the kit's chrome wheels will fit well inside them. Thanks for checking this out for myself and other builders!
  2. I've been doing some research and kit-searching for some better tires to put onto this 1/25 Scirocco kit once it has been reissued, and I think a good tire-solution for building a Scirocco race car might be the small-but-wide racing tires found inside the somewhat-recently reissued 1/25 Revell Pete Brock BRE Datsun 510 sedan race car kit. These were newly-tooled/nicely-done tires from Revell, and seem to match the size specs needed for a race Scirocco pretty closely. Thoughts, anyone?
  3. So... I understand that the good people at Moebius have probably been pretty busy recently, but has anyone heard anything new regarding the potential reissue of these two old Johan kits by Moebius?
  4. My mistake; I was describing the AMT/Ertl 1966 Riviera kit above!
  5. '66 Wildcat= old, mid/late-1960-s era tooling. Still can be built into a nice-looking model with alittle care and effort. Body is very well-done; interior and engine not bad. Chassis is one-piece using steel axles, (front one goes thru the engine block, I think). '69 Riviera= newer, late-1990's/early-2000's tooling. This is an excellent kit with a great-looking and well-detailed engine, chassis and interior. The body is also excellent. This kit came about when AMT/Ertl was at its high-water mark for kit execution. I seem to remember that this kit nearly won the "Kit of the Year" competition put on my a particular model car publication back then.
  6. Ron, I, too, would like some info on what might be a good 1/25 kit to steal chassis and suspension parts from to help build a more accurate and detailed Vega Pro Stock; anybody have any suggestions?
  7. Wow! Some impressive PhotoShop work here. I really like that 1964 Ford Thunderbird Squire wagon; bet it'd be pretty tough to recreate in 1/25 scale, but I'd sure like to give it a try
  8. I'd bet that Pro-stock Vega will sell well! Wish I could remember; did it come with a one-piece chassis, (with molded-in rear suspension), or did it have separate pieces for the rear suspension?
  9. David, That would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  10. The chrome wheels inside this kit appear to be a pretty standard, deep-dish 14" racing-style, correct? So, what would be good, appropriate 1/25 replacement racing tires to use on a build of this kit? My thinking is that they'd need to be reasonably-wide, (maybe 10" or 12" in 1:1), treaded, and have a fairly-low sidewall height/profile. Do any other kit's tires come-to-mind as good replacements?
  11. Dodgefever, Thanks for indicating what the rear suspension pieces look like; that helped me decide to purchase this kit once it becomes available!
  12. Jeffrey, I have just started working on mine; it looks like an excellent kit with cleanly and crisply molded parts. I don't believe there are any new parts inside this kit other than what came in the box back when it was first issued several years ago by Lindberg. The wheels are chrome-plated, factory-stock covers that are made to look like typical mag wheels of that mid-1960's era. They are the only wheel choice inside the kit, but are correct for an optioned, factory-stock build. They do not have any steel wheel details behind them, (no lugnuts or center-caps). The tires are pretty plain, but have nice tread detail. They seem alittle narrow for my tastes, so I will be swapping them out for some parts box Goodyears. I think this kit is more than just, "OK". I think it'll build into a fine-looking replica of mid-1960's Chevrolet muscle. I'd suggest getting one!
  13. An awesome build! I really like the "crud-buildup" on the gas tank; how'd you do that?
  14. I understand that these Scirocco's were front-wheel-drive and all, but is there absolutely no rear suspension detail or pieces inside this kit? (It looks to me like the rear suspension is just a plastic tube that goes thru a couple of holes in the main chassis piece for the rear tires/wheels to mount onto, and nothing else).
  15. I hope this reissue comes with those huge fender flares, roll cage and wire wheels... I wanna build one as a racer!
  16. BTD, A great looking build! Did you use the "molded-in-suspension" chassis from the kit and carefully detail paint it, or does this build have a chassis-swap, (and if so, what chassis did you use)?
  17. BTD, I'd like some info on how you got that thread, fender welting to look so good. Is it held-down using super-glue or some other adhesive? By the way; an excellent build; looking forward to your future-postings here... welcome!
  18. I think it's kinda funny that the bare chassis already has State of California license plates on it!
  19. Wow! This build is fantastic! Love the scratchbuilding, paint and weathering effects! Sure would like to hear more details about this build! How did you create that X-pattern in the end of your Bic lighter gas tank? Where did you source the engine? How did you weather those headers? Can we see some pics of the interior and that scratchbuilt frame of yours?
  20. I'm pretty certain that this kit is now available to purchase. I'd like to know if anyone has purchased it yet, and if so, how does it look? Does it have much flash? Decent chrome-plating? Anything new inside the box? etc.
  21. Cool idea and an excellent build! Now I wanna see you build one of those 427-powered Econoline support vehicles!
  22. Incredible paintwork; great build! I had no issues building my Manx either; guess I shoulda posted some pics of it!
  23. Everybody loves those flames, (...actually, I do, too), but I think those tailights are really terrific! Beautiful build!
  24. So, I have a question for the model kit historians out there; does anybody know if this kit was derived/created by AMT by them taking their 1/25 factory-stock, 1966 Ford Mustang kit and putting the drag racing chassis, wheels and engine underneath it, and then altering the interior and body to make it an altered-wheelbase body with those enlarged rear wheel wells? It seems to me like that is pretty-likely how this kit was created, but I am curious.

Oh yeah, definitely a cool old build of yours, Roadrunner! I, too, built this kit back-in-the-day, and was really proud of the Purple metal-flake paint job that I did on it back then. Sure wish I had more than just my memories of it!
