Kit ID help please
'70 Grande replied to jrherald420's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, its worth the time and effort for a good "rebuild" in my opinion! And yes, it's the 1/25 Johan '64 Polara, and in my opinion, probably worth about $20 in this condition on that large auction site. These Johan kits were always very well executed when it comes to the body proportions, emblems and detailing. It needs some work, but definitely worth the efforts; go for it! -
Nice build! Your paint work is outstanding! Post a pic of its backside; I'd like to see what it looks like from the rear!

2015 Ford Mustang Snap Kit as a giveaway at NAIAS

I'm hoping these 2015 Mustang "Free Kit" efforts by Ford and Revell bring thousands of young children into an interest in model cars; and they can leave their electronic devices behind for once and maybe become life-long car modelers! Okay, I'll get a little more realistic now, but even if only a few kids become interested in car models, we're all just a little bit better off! -

I'm with you, Rob. Would love to see a release of that vintage Trans-Am Cuda! -
Excellent build and story! I'll be looking forward to your next build as my first car back in high school was a '68 VW bug!

Uno Buick

Beautiful build! Excellent paint and decal work! I wonder where Tim Richmond's racing career would have went if he had lived longer. -
I'm still wondering if anybody can answer these simple questions: 1). Are the front doors and rear delivery doors all molded closed on the body, and the builder expected to scribe/cut through the door seams to open-up all of those doors? 2). Is the dropped, leaf-spring front axle included inside this kit? (it seems to me that these "gasser" front suspension pieces were not included inside this kit when it was reissued about 5 years ago as more of a "street-machine" kit). 3). Are the bumpers, grill and tail-lights all still molded in Chrome? Thanks!

I have a few questions about this new reissue. 1). Did you do any adjustments to get your tilting-hood/front-end piece to line-up so well with the body? I thought the line-up of the hood/front-end and body pieces was considered the biggest challenge when building this kit, so I'm always looking for advice on how to improve the fit there.

1975 Darrell Waltrip Chevelle
'70 Grande replied to MarkJ's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
MarkJ, A beautiful build of a not-often-seen subject! Your additional detailing, paint and decal work are outstanding! Can you give a short explanation as to how you "tucked-in" that rear bumper? Was it just a matter of trimming away some of the plastic at the very rear of the rear fenders? Oh... some engine bay and chassis photos would be great to see as well! -
I always thought that this kit was a reissue, (by AMT/Ertl), of an MPC kit; that AMT never did produce their own Nova kit of this mid-1970's era.
-
I wonder if that '53 Chevy Panel truck/gasser will have fewer Chrome plated parts than the original kit had, (looks like the bumpers, tail-lights and grill might be unplated instead of Chrome-plated in this upcoming reissue).

Extra-good guys...people who ask nothing in return.
'70 Grande replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'd have to add forum-member Steve Prideaux, (from California), to that same list of great traders who ask for nothing in return! He's helped me out with several of my parts-needs recently, but never asked for anything in return! Extra-good guy, for certain! -
attic find (my own no less..go figure..)

That's a nice "motherload" of kits you've discovered; sure wish I could have the same thing happen at my house! -
Your start on this build looks excellent; I'll be watching as it progresses. Doesn't this kit come with separate, opening doors? Did you glue the doors shut and do some work on their door-opening seams? If so, what'd you do; cuz it looks good!

Beautiful build! Your paint and detail work both look excellent! Tell me how you achieved that paint finish on the mufflers; it looks great!

The story that I remember hearing regarding the intended-reissue, (back in 2004), of the 1/25 MPC 1970/71 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler factory-stock kit was that they had found molds marked-up as being for that Cyclone kit, but when they poured molten-styrene into those molds, the Hemi Dart came out! That Cyclone kit is one of my few, never-obtained "holy-grail" kits... I've pretty much given-up on ever seeing it get reissued.

Would the wire wheels found inside the AMT/Ertl 1965 Buick Riveria work to replicate these wheels?
-
I agree; a really nice build of a significant Mercury! Your modifications look excellent to me!
-
Really nice build; the best build that I can remember seeing of this vintage kit!
-
Agreed; stunning! We must remember that color-popularity was much different in the late-1950's thru early-1960's then it is now. During that same timeframe, my mother had a Turquoise-colored refrigerator in our kitchen. I'm sure many of you could share a similar story! A beautiful build!

Wow, that is a creative spot with outstanding animation! Love the sequence where the hands twist the throttle on the motorcycles! Really cool! -
Really nice diorama... made me belly-laugh when I first looked at it; its great!
