  1. I removed the "step" from the rear door on one side... still gotta do the other side... And sort out the curve in the bonnet, it makes a gap: i should have the body work done in a day and it should be ready for paint soon.. Let me know what you think.
  2. Long time since there was progress on this.... I got the front sorted out:
  3. Thanks guys.. Charlie - As to making another one I probably won't at least not this year as I have a lot of projects lined up at the moment and if i do make another one it would most likely be a 4 door wagon. There is a Biscayne resin body available from bandit resins I think but its a 2 door: http://www.banditresins.com/gallery_gonzo.html I would have started with this but I thought if i have to modify it anyway then why not make my own, plus it would be more fun to do it myself. Its got the gloss white on I will have pics tomorrow.
  4. I am doing repairs on the blue custom convertible and couldn't resist sitting the Biscayne on the custom's chassis: Now i want to make another one... And it now has flat white on it as kind of a base coat so the gloss white and red will be bright (I have previously had a bit of trouble getting the White i wanted, the dark primer tends to make the gloss a tad bit dull) anyways here she is: I hope to have the gloss white on tomorrow and then on the weekend i will paint the red (if its dry enough to mask up) Let me know what you think.
  5. Thanks Richard and Charlie. I haven't had much time to work on this because of work and poor weather. On Sunday i got a good day and have finished the body work:
  6. Thanks guys. I don't think I will be trying to do the resin cast myself if there is a chance of damaging the original. I think I will just stick to modifying to get what I want, if I want another I can always make another. Thanks again for the advice
  7. I am working on a 58 biscayne 4 door that has taken a lot of time and work and the bodywork is almost done. After its done i will be giving it to my dad (it's a. Replica of his that he owned many years ago) and I want one for my self so I was thinking I might Make a cast and pop out a few. My problem is that because they will be just for me I only want 3 or 4 i am not looking to spend a huge amount and I have never done any resin work and I want to. My questions are what would be the best method for making a few duplicates? I am not looking to make professional quality bodys just something that looks nice when built. Also what supplies (i have no supplies for making resin or for working with resin) would I need to do a quick cast? How much roughly would the supplies required cost? And any tips or techniques any one had to offer would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. Very pretty, The colour really stands out, Have you got any "Before" pics of it? It looks very nice.
  9. Love the colour, Very nice. Those rims look sweet Are they from the AMT 70 Impala? the Impala has a set like those with it...
  10. Nice, it looks almost real. I like the Interior, very nice looking chevy
  11. Hey that looks sweet, I like the idea of using corduroy as upholstery it looks very nice. Now I need to find a build I can use that idea on... Very sharp looking chevy, nice engine detail and a smooth finish.
  12. Its not that hard to do the conversion yourself. I did one early last year and it turned out good except for the roof (The putty I used shrank and revealed the join lines a little) I sanded it back and repainted it and its a lot better but not perfect. Any way it only took a few months, I will be doing a second one this year (if I can ever get my current projects done) but this time round I am going to have all 4 doors, trunk and hood hinged and this time round I will try a different putty so there wont be the same mistake... By the way this was my first attempt at any body modifications and I didn't find it that hard to do, just time consuming. 13. Thanks everyone The roof was done by painting it flat black then laying lace over it and doing a light coat of gold.
  14. last pics: All comments welcome, let me know what you think.
  15. Finished: as you can see the BMFon the bumpers has wrinkles but every time i tried to rub them smooth with a cotton swab it seemed to polish through the gold and it left silver spots. This is the best i could do with out getting the silver spots.
  16. Finished I will post pics in Under glass.
  17. Finished it up: I added a little gold to the interior and replaced the stock wheel with the chain one that came with this kit.
  18. After a lot of rough sanding and removing excess glue its looking almost finished: as you can see there is still a fair bit of sanding to do but this side is basicly done. after i have finished sanding this side i will start on the other side.
  19. Ok major progress: I started with the pillar and window frame and cut it out from sheet styrene. Got the door line for the pillar scribed and then glued it in and made the rear window divider from wire. then i made the side trim from sheet styrene and metal wire.
  20. more: I have also smoothed the front seat completely. it still needs a little sanding and the new Biscayne seat trim. Hope to have more soon, let me know what you think.
  21. Thanks Dominik. Gary i did find a few pics of the dash : sorry for the poor quality but they are the only ones i had, you can see some of the lines where i cut it up. Progress: I have 1 side almost done. I got the door lines done: The front guard gills: The real thing and mine for a comparison. Still needs work...
  22. It is still a bit rough but as you can see its getting there. I also re painted the white wall inserts as they were looking a bit sad. I've dot the side marked out and am ready to re scribe the door lines. I just need to get my hobby knife in the mail. (Im completely out of blades) hope to have more soon.
  23. Thanks Samuel. Ok I got the left light almost done. I cut the centre piece out and then cut along the trunk line and put the pieces together. ' I used epoxy putty to fill the gap and sanded it into shape. I sanded away the trim and replaced it with metal wire. I added a bit of putty underneath in case I sanded through it.
