  1. Try scrubbing the tire with this and an old toothbrush
  2. Great work. I grew up a Can-AM fan and got to see the Mclaren M8B's of the Bruce and Denny show at Watkins Glen. I have never seen those cars.
  3. If you can find MOTOMASTER brand touchup paints. They are finer than Duplicolor. See this 911 done with them.
  4. No actually it's straight from the can. I usually use spray cans for body and chassis but everything else gets airbrushed. I do use the air brush for secondary colors in two tones etc. I will airbrush a coat of Testors Wet Look Clear over the blue.. The can had a fan spray head
  5. Thanks Ace, I did lower the ride height some.
  6. I just wanted to do the classic 911 I have always wanted. This is one my favorite years
  7. This is the Tamiya kit. I removed the 3D front license plate and the back plate so I can use US plates. I also cut the whale tail piece off the rear deck so I could scribe the trunk lines better and paint it black separately. I usually do race cars with a specific color. I bought a bunch of Duplicolor and Motomaster touch up paints at 3/$1.00 at a surplus store in my area and finally decided on this Motomaster paint, FM 77-78. These paints have finer metallic pigment than Duplicolor. Now I have decide on interior colors.
  8. Before you give up try BIN Sealer as base/primer. Get at Home Depot
  9. Certainly a great actor and a great american. I forgot he also won a purple heart in Korea. Him and Clint were my all time favorites. Formula one certainly owes him great tribute for the movie Grand Prix that help make it what it is.
  10. Below is a picture of the film peeled back. The decal does not need this on the white or clear paper. If you leave it there it will not conform as well. It definitely is not needed and there is risk that it may peel after it is on the model for awhile.
  11. I discovered by accident that Papillio decal paper actually has a clear protectiver layer that needs peeled off before painting or printing. It is a thin layer of plastic. Also to get decals to conform try a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal. It will conform instantly without wrinkles. Use a hot damp Q-Tip for small areas.
  12. Lawrence, I have tried it and it is not as good as Future. It is thinner and does not coat as well. This is especially true if wiped on like I use it and if covering decals.
  13. Believ me it is very different and has has a strong smell. It leaves the surface tacky like a contact cement. It can easily be removed by rubbing with your fingers.
  14. Microscales Micro Liquitape is specifically made for this.
  15. Looks good. A tip for the decal to conform instead of using a solvent(most are too strong for Tamiya decals)is to using a steaming hot, damp Q-Tip pressed against the decal. Also if decals do not stick try using a little Future applied by Q-Tip under the decal. Windex or Ammonia can be used to get rid of the excess Future. For bigger decals press them with a hot damp cloth.
  16. One of the only series ever run that was close to run what you brung was the FIA Group 7, also known as the CAN-AM series of the 60's into the early seventies. It spawned 510 cu. in. Chevies and the all conquering Porsche Flat 12 Turbo. i was fortunate to see them run at the Glen in 1969.
  17. Here is an interesting video that shows what conditions in some series that drivers will drive in. This was at night from last years 24hrs of Nurburgring. Regardless of this argument you have a appreciate what these guys do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAvN0EzEacU
  18. Tomorrow at 10:00 AM EST will be the start of another great 24hr at Nurburgring Germany. About 200 cars on the 14 mile Nordschleife circuit. official site is here http://www.24h-rennen.de/en/official-website/ It is streamed here and various places on the net. A Mclaren MP4/12C is on the pole. There is a nice gallery of pictures here http://www.motorsport.com/endurance/photos/main-gallery/?r=8037
  19. AUDI does it again, 1st and 2nd overall. I was hoping the Toyota would win so Tamiya would model it. Nissan joins the LMP1 ranks nextyear. "Every thing else is just waiting"

  21. There is something going on with this company. No of my 3 local shops that carry it can get it anymore. I highly doubt the links posted above have it in stock. A good alternative is Plastruct Bondene
  22. If you buy Plastikote Primer make sure you do not get the enamel version. The correct numbers are T-235 for Gray and T-237 for white.
  23. I prime everything, it makes parts more solid and less lookiing like painted plastic. I only use a spray can for big stuff like body or chassis. I airbrush all small parts with Alclad's Primer , ready to airbrush no thinning necessary. It comes in grey, black and white
  24. For any one interested tomorrow(Sunday) is Lemans Test Day, practice for the upcoming 24 hrs. Starting at 8:00 Am EST at http://lemans-tv.com
