  1. I finally got this paint job straightened out and have one side foiled! I'll finish the foil including the interior and then I'll be ready to roll on through the assembly. I probably won't wire the engine since if it is done right it will be hard to see anyway. I have Chevrolet PE scripts for the rear fender but that will be about it for additional detail other than what is in the box. Thanks for looking! ?
  2. Thanks, Carl, Greg, Bob, and David! David, that is regular old masking tape. I also use Tamiya tape close to edges to avoid paint bleeding but I use masking tape on wide areas. On primer I don't have any issues usually, but on gloss surfaces I use index cards secured by tape to avoid tape issues on the paint. Well, I got everything rubbed out this morning and decided to add another coat of clear. I knew I would have to rub it out again but it would give my a good shine. When I added the clear for some reason the left side really orange-peeled on me. I guess I got too much on the left side but I normally give both sides, top and trunk two passes one forward and one back. Anyway the other side, top and trunk came out fine. After it dried for a few hours I started sanding out the left side with 400 sandpaper, wet. Unfortunately, I rubbed through the paint. Not willing to give up on it, I thought I could paint the left side with the very little paint I had mixed up. I decided to use the cup that is with the air brush and the paint I had left barely was half of the cup. I managed to get it on the left side. I followed with two thin coats of clear for a spray can. Success! Tomorrow, I rub the entire body out once again, hopefully, for the last time. I also managed to tape off and paint two pieces of the interior. I had previously painted the inserts with the same yellow and now I just have to tape off and paint the black. Thanks for looking! ?
  3. Everything is looking good, Bob! Paint and foil are fantastic! BTW, I used to hate foil too but I decided that it was going to be my forte, so I mastered it and now I look forward to foiling everything I build. Its my favorite part of the building process now! Can't wait for the completion of your build! I'm sure it will look great! ??
  4. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! I prepared the body including filling a small sink mark in the front right fender and removed the mold lines around the headlights and finally I also found one on the back of the trunk. I decided to paint this one Black and Crocus Yellow. But I don't have any Crocus Yellow. I remembered that I had an old bottle of Yellow Gold, a Dodge color from MCW. A few weeks ago I also picked up a bottle of nail lacquer that I had seen marked down when I bought my Q-tips at Sally's. It was a light green in color and I thought about using it as is, and still might but I thought I could mix it with the Yellow Gold and get a Crocus Yellow. So I painted the black first with Dupli-Color Universal Black and then painted the Crocus Yellow mixture with my air brush. I hadn't used it in two years or so and was concerned that it would even work. But I was pleasantly surprised that it worked like a charm and air brushing was just like riding a bike. You never forget. One coat of clear during each painting session and now I will rub out tomorrow and give the whole thing another coat of clear. Thanks for looking! ?
  5. Thanks, Dan! I usually double-check for spelling and other errors but I must have had a brain fart.
  6. I bought the latest iteration of this kit the other day. I also have a California Wheels edition of this kit that is unsealed. So I thought it would be better to use it and stick the new one in the closet since it is still sealed. The only difference is that the new kit has a few more parts, notably, the stock wheels and tires, etc. I have built the California wheels version before and I have plenty of stock tires and wheels that I can use, if I should chose to do it. I may use the 20" wheels on this one. The last one I built was right about the same time as the Testors One Coat came out so I used Blazing Black and Diamond Dust for the tw o-tone exterior with a gray and black interior. It was box stock but was a hit at one contest where it took a 1st place in Street Machine. So its time to get started! Thanks for looking! ?
  7. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  8. Very nicely done! I'm amazed that it is a combination of Molotow pen and kitchen foil! Imagine what you could do with BMF! The artist acrylics are also stunning! ??
  9. Its not a Joker Goon Car or a Gotham City Police Car but a 1977 Dodge Monaco. A full size, mid-level price range, grocery-getter. The exterior paint is Krylon Satin Avocado with Krylon Clear lacquer, masking tape vinyl top with Krylon Satin Ivory paint and the interior is Tamiya Dark Green with wood accents using Testors flat tan. Tires from the parts box and unable to find any full-size Dodge wheel covers, I used wheel covers from the 1962 Chevy Impala. Everything else is box stock except the steering wheel and column. The steering wheel was from the parts box and modified to look like a padded steering wheel an column was scratched from plastic tubing. Nothing added in the engine compartment. Thanks for looking! ?
  10. This one is not a Joker Goon Car or a Gotham City Police Car but a 1977 Dodge Monaco. A full size, mid-level price range, grocery-getter. See final photos in the Under Glass section! Thanks for looking and following! ?
  11. Thanks, Carl! I appreciate your comment! The rear glass is in and I am mocking this one up with wheels and tires. I wanted to use some skinny whitewalls and full wheel covers to complete the look of this full size grocery getter. Unfortunately, I don't have any full size Mopar wheel covers so these 62 Chevy wheel covers will have to do until I find some others. Since taking this photo, I have blackwashed them as well as other parts, such as engine parts and interior wood. The front end will sit down a little more once glued in place. Thanks for looking! ?
  12. Finished the interior. Nothing special - I found some gauge decals with white centers that are not representative of the actual car but they'll do. Painted in the wood trim on the steering wheel and added some foil and chrome pen and its done. Thanks for looking! ?
  13. Jim, you're really doing a lot of nice detail work on this one! Good work! ??
  14. Detail is fantastic, Joe! You're really going "all out" on this one! ??
  15. Thanks, John! I appreciate your help. Unfortunately, the Dodge van is not one of the kits I have. I had an A-team van once upon a time and I'm don't remember if that was a Dodge van. Anyway, my son played with it and it was destroyed long ago. So I found a steering wheel, I think came from a Chevy Chevelle that kinda fits the bill. I added a couple of strips of plastic and some putty and molded it into something that will have to pass for that padded steering wheel. I also made a steering column from 3/32" tube and added a turn signal indicator and shifter from the paederts box. I used flat tan on the door panels and dash for wood accents and will add foil to the doors and chrome pen for the door handles. I'll also try to find some gauge decals for the dash. Here are a couple of photos of the basic interior. More to come - thanks for looking! ?
  16. Thanks, Jeremy, Carl and Steve! I appreciate your comments! Need some help! I'm trying to find and ugly steering wheel like the one below. I know I have one (because I don't like them and never use them) somewhere but can't find it and I have been through all my extra Mopar parts. I'm going through the Chevy parts next but thought maybe someone knows a kit that has this padded horizontal bar type steering wheel. Help appreciated.
  17. Thanks, Joe! I appreciate your comment! I finished the foil work on the body so I thought I would take a few outdoor photos on my painting table on the patio to better show the actual color of the paint. Next will be the interior that I painted Tamiya Dark Green. I still have to rub out the hood. Thanks for looking! ?
  18. Thanks, Mike and Sonny! I appreciate your comments! Rubbed out the body and the Krylon paint takes more time and is not the best as it doesn't level out very well and it always has sort of a texture to it that is hard to rub out. But its good enough for this old relic. Got it rubbed out as well as I can and foiled one side. More foil to do. Thanks for looking!
  19. I originally bought this kit in the early 90s for my son right after the Batman movie with Keaton and Nicholson came out. He played with it for a while, mostly the guns in the kit and took parts off the trees, but never got around to building it. So I am going to build it now as a 1977 Dodge Monaco. I toyed with the idea of building the Joker Goon Car but after looking at several on the internet decided not to. I thought this might look OK with a vinyl roof so I used some 2" inch tape to do that. This roof is about 2" wide so I marked the top at 1/2" on both sides and began the process. The middle part is 1 1/8" so that there is an overlap of 1/16" on each side. Then painted it Krylon Ivory. That's all there is to it. I subsequently taped off the top using some index card stock and gave the rest of the body a coat of primer this morning after letting the top dry overnight. This afternoon I painted the body and all the other parts. As y'all know, I like to experiment with colors and paints so I used Krylon Satin Avocado (two coats) and two coats of Krylon Clear Lacquer. Once everything was dry. I pulled the tape on the top and here it is. Its a bit unusual but I think will build up as a nice grocery-getter box stock. And... it will be out of my closet! Thanks for looking! ?
  20. Thanks, Bob and Jim! I appreciate your comments! ?
  21. Very impressive build! As other have said, I wish I could do it but probably never will. Nice work, Steve! ??
  22. Thanks, Bob, Gary and Jim! I appreciate your comments! Here are a few of the models you mentioned, Bob, I think. The 31 Ford is not a woodie but it is a Revell kit. I don't have the pick-up but it and the 56 Chevy, 57 Chevy Nomad and the 55 OG Chevy you mentioned were all originally Monogram kits. You can tell because they are all 1/24 scale. Once upon a time, they were a separate company from Revell. The 55 Chevy is a turd but the 56 and 57 Nomad are pretty nice kits. The 31 might be a different kit than the one you are referencing because it was a pretty nice kit and went together well. Thanks for looking and thanks for the comments! ?
  23. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  24. Nice looking paint! Carry on! ??
  25. Thanks, Carl! I appreciate your comment! This one is done. It certainly was a challenging build but I enjoyed it - to a point. I wish the kit had been in better shape. But its done! Thanks for looking! ?
