1972 Dodge Charger 1/1 Copy update 05/11/16
72 Charger replied to 72 Charger's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Just a quick update motor is getting their HT leads and manifolds rusted with powders . The from grill is the original kit one as the one I got from Missing link is to wide . Wheels have had the backs sanded off to open up the holes in the rims and fit the back plates. I have just started to cut out the 71 bulged hood this is for two reasons the first is that the hood it has now is from a 74 charger and it does not fit as well as I would like . The second is that the original hood has the vents at the back . So I have chopped out the bulge and let in a slightly bent plasticard insert to match the contour of the hood . I will have to come up with some way of adding the peak down the middle As always if anyone is interested in this comments welcomed good OR bad -
Nice I will be watching

MY TRUCKS.

Nice clean builds there Andrew -
Richard I have gone through lots of clips on the net of Charger Barn finds that have the vinyl roof and clips of WIP's . Doing freeze frame their are one or two clips that show where the trim clips have rusted streaks. Showing where the holes are. I believe that their are holes along the lower trim of the B pillar . I think that there may be at least 10 from the rear side window to the tip of the pillar where it meets the trunk. Then it comes forward to the rear glass. So then there would be holes on the inside as well possibly 5 . I hope this helps I can not be 100% sure if this is correct or not as you said their is not much info to go on.

Just got the body flatted ready for polish more pics soon Thanks to all who commented it has given me a bit of a boost to get some work done I like to let my paint sit for a week to harden off before I flat lacquer . John has given me some of the polish that he uses and he polished one side of the hood . Then said I have to match the shine on the other side ....! I am polishing it buy hand he has used a mini power polisher . I hope I don't polish my fingers off -
Looks very interesting . Like the story too . Can I just ask what the silver paint is for on the rocker boxes?

Thanks guys. Yes he is very good he has a van that he drives around your house to repaint stone chips and scratches to the paint on your car. The van has the ability to mix any colour paint even taking sunfade and age in to account . I was very surprised to see john mix the paint there is Orange black silver dark green white gold pearl . The paint is EXACTLY the same colour as the original colour the car left the factory in. The 1/1 is a VW Pea green and compaired to the original Dodge colour its horrible and the 1/1 will be repainted as Dodge intended -

Well a good day was had...! Finally managed to get the body painted today. I cant take the credit for the super finish though . I have just had a friend do some touch ups on the 1/1 . So the sun was shining there was no wind no bugs just the right temp and moons of Jupiter where just right My now good friend John said, As he had the spray gun out and he could mix the EXACT colour why not let him paint it . Here is the result . Paint is Base and 2k clear. Comments welcomed good or bad -
