  1. Im trying to switch from the small cans of Tamiya clear (semi gloss is what I have now) to a larger can (say Krylon for example, since its what I already purchased) I bought a can of Krylon ColorMaster CoverMax Gloss Clear. I sprayed a spoon purple with tamiya from a rattle can. Waited a few hours and went to spray the krylon over it and it seemed to wash away/move the paint and not 'coat' it I tried doing some research on the clear that I have here, but I couldnt come up with an answer as to whether or not it was a good product. Ive seen claims that krylon is no longer what it used to be, but am looking for a good can of 'department store' clear that works over tamiya aerosols and acrylics, as well as some of testors one coat lacquers, and even model master enamels for that matter Any help to a direct product would be great. I know people say 2 part clears are great, but Id rather not deal with the fumes and mess of it all Thank you in advance
  2. Im just the kind of people that likes to hold and SEE what they are getting before making the purchase, especially when it comes to styrene. I almost justify it to myself in that there is already gas in the car its just a matter of going and spending the time. It is a nice drive there, but a 40 minute drove regardless. When purchasing online its the dreaded shipping cost which is much more there in front with the cost of the items, vs gas in the car. I am aware of the cost of the gas, and it equals out if not more in favor than online shopping, but I always find other little tools to use while Im there and get the inspiration for other things as well Ive contacted HTU and she did say, that not all stores have to accept the coupons, to which my response was, then you shouldnt be sending them to people when the store they select isn't one that accepts them. Pointless retort, but it made me feel better. Before I moved to washington and lived in texas, I had 3 HL within 20 mins, and a HBU the same distance, and they took coupons with a great selection. Always hard to adjust
  3. any chance of an actual turbo picture. Im curious was the 2" 1/24 turbos look like
  4. The nearest HobbyTown to me is 36 miles,I obviously go in mind with making a purchase. It just astounded me that when I went there on Tuesday with my son I purchased a kit off of the 50% off table, it was a Corolla Levin GT APEX kit among other things. When I went to the register there was a younger guy who seemed new'er' based on his actions I had a $7 off of $15 coupon. It was on my phone as I hadn't printed it off. He said he wasnt sure how to go about ringing it in. He tried scanning the barcode and nothing happened. He said he would need to wait until the manager was off the phone. Luckily my son started to get antsy, he's only a year and a half, so it worked to my benefit that at that point the guy decided to try to manually punch in the numbers and letters associated with it and BAM, it worked. I took my purchased and moved along happily. That night about 10pm I decided to open the kit (sealed with tape on all 4 corners but plastic was off), low and behold its an entire kit....EXCEPT FOR THE BODY! I was so annoyed and frustrated and I couldnt tell if it was because I would not have to drive another 70 miles round trip, or because when they took a return they didnt check for the kits contents. I called the next morning and explained my frustration and they said I could come back to exchange it. After asking what was going to be done with the kit with no body the manager said he would have to figure something out, but he had no idea. I told him if he was going to trash it, I would take it for parts. He ended up giving me 75% off, so it was about $11 for a legit 'parts' car. This was the same day I asked about the coupons and he had said that they don't accept them. I didnt feel like throwing the new'er' guy under the bus by saying he did it for me, although I wonder if I did, if he would have honored mine I just moved to Tacoma, Washington. There aren't many hobby stores near me. With the closest HTU being 36 miles, HobbyLobby being 15 mins which isnt bad, but their selection of paint and kits being limited to Revell only is a bit rough for me as Ive been on quite an import kick for the better part of the last year
  5. Hobby lobby doesn't have tamiya or hasegawa kits out here. Nor do they carry tamiya paint. The hobbytown has a table with kits randomly getting marked 50% off
  6. I feel like that guy was trying to pull one over on me. I think he was the manager, not store owner. If they are part of the franchise, they have to honor it then huh
  7. Interesting I found this. I just went to use a $10 off of $50 that I had and the guy told me that since they are a franchise they don't have to honor them. And they use the 'spend $100 in a month and get $5 back' If the coupons are coming from corporate or a headquarters, can they choose not to honor them?
  8. I have the neo by iwata and its .35. Super easy to Clean up and use
  9. that room is amazing! I have been waiting to finally get one of these and did
  10. love the harnesses. did you use a PE set for the harness buckle? and is it just craft ribbon for the straps?
  11. It looks awesome. I have the same kit and wanted to start on it and misplaced the rear bumper for it! I planned to drop it low into the weeds but there's a lot of suspension work to be done to do that
  12. Just for the hell of it it tried this stuff out. I have the easy off and it took over night and then some and even then it didn't take off the film beneath the plating. I did a test piece with this and it was off within minutes with nothing left beneath it. Did a whole 1/12 bike frame in under an hour
  13. A turbo is the only thing keeping my supra from being finished
  14. Ive noticed recently in switching to a NEO that I can use tamiyas acrylics with just increasing the pressure a little bit. I havent done much painting this way yet, but this is my personal recent discovery. prior to this I was using my paasche h series and I always found that I never mixed enough paint together, or that I had more left than I wanted. I was using the metal side cup with my H, but the NEO is great for smaller details and medium sized parts as well
  15. just a bump to see if maybe *ahem**shucky*ahem* has any new source on a well cast turbo including the hot side
  16. after reading reviews and for the price it seems like I will be aquiring the neo. anyone with first hand input on it would help with some of the more 'problem' areas of the airbrush thanks
  17. I've used the cup but the paint at the bottom of the cup is always a pain to get especially by the weld. I've got plenty of qtips and thinner. That badger looks nice. Looking into the iwatas right now
  18. Im trying to figure out which is a good one to use. Ive got a paasche H set that I use for 'mass' sprays as well as my bodys. But Im wanting something that I can just put a little bit of paint into and do some finer things, not to mention having a second gun is never a bad thing I cant seem to find many at what seems a reasonable price, let alone know how big the mm size tip is prior to using it. Any input is appreciated
  19. I've got 3 right now. One that just needs the motor and intercooler. Still working on interior for another and just getting body work started on the 3rd I hate waiting for things to dry so I move around. If more than one kit require parts to be painted the same color, I like to do a mad spray to save on time and clean up
  20. Sorry it didn't attach the first time. Pita doing this from my phone lol
